Gucci Flies to Seoul: A Trend Report

Gucci Flies to Seoul: A Trend Report

By

The Italian fashion house held their Cruise 2024 collection in Seoul, merging their codes with the country’s cultural heritage

A blend of codes is a direction that isn’t new in the fashion hemisphere. Several houses with contrasting identities have been able to create collections with such cohesiveness—a trend that was quite evident during the pandemic. Although, one that we’ve been seeing recently is the flight to new locations to fuse house codes with cultural heritage. Because of this, a new collection that recently hit the streets of Seoul was Gucci’s Cruise 2024 collection, and we listed down five trends that reigned in their pieces.

Relaxed forms

A laid-back silhouette is a favorite in Seoul, and this was mimicked with a Gucci twist. Bomber jackets were constructed into evening skirts, sweaters had a floor-length finish, and coats were done in a straight silhouette.

The neon palette

This palette doesn’t take us by surprise since they debuted a line of neon pieces in the Fall/Winter collection last February. For their latest release, they infused some neon in their pieces such as floor-length shirt-dresses, biker shorts and coat coordinates, and even their jelly print seen on some dresses and shirts.

Gucci in the 90s

Another trend we spotted back in their Fall/Winter collection is their direction towards their fashion in the 90s. From low waist bottoms, hip-length tops, to midi cut dresses and skirts—these are little details from the 90s that the Italian house is bringing back.

Unusual combos

Gucci is no stranger to the unconventional, and they proved their art for it again in this collection. Activewear designs such as scuba wetsuits were paired with ruffled slinky dresses, while their basketball jersey shirts were layered with a matching puffer vest and deconstructed bottoms.

Bags intensified

Accessories usually match the aesthetic of the collection, which Gucci did in an exaggerated manner. Examples of this are the Horsebit Chain bag finished with embellishments and their skateboard-inspired bags, which had the board and wheels on it.
