Gucci Unveils A Special Collection Modeled By Adorable Dogs

These posh pups are immortalized in clothing, shoes, and small leather goods, full of bold colors and luxury materials.

It’s only January and Gucci is already on a roll this year – having unveiled the season’s street style favorite, the Rhyton sneaker and an interactive Gucci garden in Florence, a unique take on a traditional museum that displays the vibrancy of the brand’s storied history similar to a well-curated, interactive art gallery. As we approach February, creative director Alessandro Michele has more up his sleeve as Gucci revealed a special collection in time for Chinese New Year.

To celebrate the Year of the Dog, the Italian luxury house created a capsule collection made up of 63 items ranging from clothes to jewelry – standout pieces being brightly colored knitted sweaters, denim jackets and men’s polo shirts, hoodies and bomber jackets, all decorated with dog motifs featuring Michele’s own Boston Terriers, Bosco and Orso.

The illustration is a reprise of artist Helen Downie or more notably known as Unskilled Worker and her gift to Michele himself inscribed on a pillow. Later on, Downie and Michele partnered on a collection featuring her illustrations and took part in an art exhibition in Shanghai’s Minsheng Art Museum. Absolutely fitting for the special assortment, the promotional photos were shot with Chinese models and adorable dogs shot by Petra Collins.

In store, Gucci’s windows will be revamped with tartan walls, floor and matching tartan upholstered mini-bench seats to display the items, along with a big image of each dog on the rear wall plus a special packaging currently in the works.

The Gucci Year of the Dog capsule collection is available now from Gucci’s web store, along with its Pre-Fall 2018 collection, inspired by Dario Argento.
