These Pinoy celebrities are using their platforms and influence to spread information and help victims of Typhoon Carina

In the wake of Typhoon Carina’s devastation, local celebrities are rallying support and help to those in need. Stars such as Anne Curtis, Barbie Forteza, Heart Evangelista, and Michelle Dee are taking active part in helping the Filipinos rise by supporting various relief efforts and donation drives, and encouraging their fans and followers to donate and volunteer for these causes.

Voices for Information and Donations

Actors Julia Barretto, Kyline Alcantara, Belle Mariano, and Donny Pangilinan are sharing emergency hotlines and calls for donations via their Instagram stories. Donny captioned his post, “If you have the means to donate to those who have been affected…many are currently homeless.”

It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda posted a prayer for the victims alongside emergency hotlines: “Praying for everyone’s safety.”

Anne Curtis-Smith, on the other hand, reposted a tweet on X that featured a Filipino unclogging a drainage along Visayas avenue, saying, “This is actually a huge problem in the Metro and most likely one of the huge causes of flooding.”

Celebrity couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes shared GMA’s Operation Bayanihan call for donations. The former and her glam team repacked goods enough for 700 victims of the typhoon.

Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza also posted GMA’s relief efforts: “Bukas ang GMA Kapuso Foundation sa mga nais magpaabot ng tulong.” Actress Glaiza De Castro also used her platform and said, “Nananawagan kami sa inyong lahat na makipagbayanihan.”

Sarah Lahbati, meanwhile, took the time to thank the rescuers and volunteers on her platform.

Pleas for ‘No Pets Left Behind’

In addition to vital information and relief operations, celebrity fur moms Janella Salvador, Heart Evangelista, Gabbi Garcia, and Kyline Alcantara urge the nation never to leave our furry companions behind: “They depend entirely on us for their survival in times of disaster,” the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) said.

Alexa Ilacad, advocate for animal welfare, and Carla Abellana, a staunch supporter of anti-animal cruelty, are among the local celebrities who passionately pleaded for lending a helping hand to helpless animals. The former penned, “Please be responsible pet owners. Do not leave your pets behind, and if you can, please help animals in need by providing them with shelter.”

Active Volunteering

Celebrity couple Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo launched “StarTRUCK” in 2021 to help the victims of Typhoon Odette. Today, they revived their relief operation effort to extend support to victims of Typhoon Carina: “Muli naming ibinabalik ang StarTRUCK para maging daan sa pagpapaabot ng inyong mga tulong.”

Also leading Carina’s donation drives is Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee, who is currently actively taking part in Philippine Red Cross’s initiatives: “Let’s do what we can to help our home recover and rebuild.”
