Here’s How a Mother’s Love Made Kathryn Bernardo and Other Stars Succeed

The careers of Kathryn Bernardo, Bea Alonzo, Julia Barretto, and Donny Pangilinan were not built alone. Their mothers were and are there with them through it all

Show business is no easy path to take, and it takes a good guide and natural nurturer to keep a celebrity’s feet on the ground. To some, those figures come in the form of their managers and industry mentors. Luckily for stars Kathryn Bernardo, Bea Alonzo, Julia Barretto, and Donny Pangilinan, they were born with their own voices of reason—their mothers.

Today, these stars continue to succeed in the industry not just for their talent and commitment to the craft. They, too, have thrived in show business because of the strong mothers who have been with them throughout the thick and thin of their careers. With that said, here are the ways the mothers of these celebrities have kept them grounded in the industry.

Bea Alonzo and Madame M

Referring to her mother as her best friend, Bea recalled that her mom had her when she was only 19 or 20. Because of this, their relationship can be likened to one that best friends or sisters share. “Imagine, single mother siya and ang dami niyang sacrifices,” the actress said in her vlog. Bea’s mother, who they fondly call “Madame M,” always respected her decisions, but was also a no-filter advice giver, especially with the matters of the heart. In a vlog, she honestly answered that out of her two children, Bea was the “tanga sa pag-ibig.”

Giving back to the light of her world, Bea would take her family out on trips and even devoted her Spain apartment to her mother.

Donny Pangilinan and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan

The only Pangilinan child to follow the footsteps of his mother, Donny initially never got a head start just because his mom, Maricel, was already an actress. “If you really want to be in showbiz, you would have to be found,” the actress once said to her son, recalling this in a vlog. Behind this, she had a deeper reason why—she didn’t want Donny’s success to be anchored on her connections and her journey as an actress. It had to be Donny’s alone.

Because of this, the actor has been striving to hone his craft and is doing undeniably well. Aside from his showbiz career, he is also investing in land properties and building his own home.

Julia Barretto and Marjorie Barretto

Happy days allow you to see how much people celebrate you, but tough times help you figure out those who really do matter. Time and again, Julia has emphasized how being with her family has silenced all the noise from naysayers. Her tight bond with her siblings, as well as her grit, comes from her own mother, Marjorie.

In one of the times when the actress needed words of encouragement as a daughter, Marjorie took to Instagram her expression of love for Julia. “I love you with the kind of love that you can trust. Love that you can depend on, and the kind that will protect you and never betray you. Maybe you need to hear this today…I am so proud of you, Juli. I am so blessed to be able to call you my child,” the actress’ mother wrote in her caption.

Kathryn Bernardo and Mommy Min

If there is a living and literal proof of always being there for your child, that’s Mommy Min to her daughter Kathryn. From her child star days up until her endless tapings and shootings, the actress has always had her mother on her side for everything. As a stage mother, Mommy Min is the witness to how hard Kathryn has been working throughout her career. Of course, her effort does not go unnoticed to the actress. “Thanks for letting me grow slowly, and for never leaving me in the process especially when things get rough,” Kathryn once wrote in her Mother’s Day greeting for Mommy Min in 2019.
