When it comes to weddings, the topic of finance tends to get a bit taxing. On top of the exciting activities and planning, the catch is knowing how to make the wedding happen without overspending. If the trend back then was to have the biggest ceremony, then it’s safe to say that we’re currently at the other end of the spectrum. The old ways
Before, getting a custom wedding gown was always the answer. But now, brides have taken a liking to choosing from a fashion house’s rack, which will then be tailored to their size. This method may not be new, but it’s recently being done more often than usual, especially here in the Philippines, where custom pieces thrive.
The millennial bride
So how come this trend is getting more popular? We’re tracing it back to the new buying habits millennials have, which is to save up now and splurge later. Younger millennials tend to be more realistic when it comes to handling their finances, hence why intimate weddings have been a favorite amongst this generation. As for the millennial brides-to-be, choosing a ready-to-wear gown with a simple finish is very much sustainable since they can even use it after the wedding.
The aftermath in fashion
After seeing the spending trend within the bridal industry, fashion houses have also taken their designs to the brides. They immediately spotted the need to cater to these newly proposed women, which they did, but it’s still done in their signature house codes. Less traditional wedding gowns have become a favorite amongst brides because of its chic minimalist finish, hence why fashion houses have been producing designs in such fashion.
What should you do with this?
If you’re a millennial bride who has the same outlook like the others, then this route might just be the one for you. Nowadays, young newlyweds prioritize investments such us properties and their savings instead of having a grandeur wedding. We’ve seen the quick uptrend of intimate weddings these past few years and there’s nothing wrong with joining the bandwagon. But if you’re the type to celebrate with such splendor, then by all means go for it! After all, the day is supposed to be for you and your fiancé, and no one else.
