Once again, TV sensation Maine Mendoza called out her fans to address their fairytale narrative over the AlDub pairing
Authentic with a dose of comic relief—that’s the only way you can describe Maine Mendoza. From her Dubsmash videos and blog posts to her answers in interviews, she keeps it real with a little laughter.
In a recent interview with entertainment host and reporter Ogie Diaz, Maine lives up to her honesty when she finally addressed her concern about the false narrative that some of her fans are still buying up to this day.

The AlDub Nation is a fandom shipping Maine’s character in Eat Bulaga, Yaya Dub, and Kapuso actor Alden Richards. They were part of the Kalyeserye series, a huge hit from 2015 to 2016.
Even after years of breaking off from their roles in the segment, there were still fans who believed that Yaya Dub and Alden’s marriage and children were true to life. This made some supporters upset when actor Arjo Atayde revealed in 2018 that he and Maine were dating.
“Ayoko lang ng parang nanloloko ka ng tao para sa fame, sa money,” the host directly said. She explained that she would also call people out on Twitter, especially those who are dragging names of her loved ones just to fit the story they want to believe. “Pwede naman tayong ma-enjoy at ma-entertain na alam natin ‘yung katotohanan.”
While shipping celebrities and their characters makes fans happy, this is a reminder that not everything we see on screen is real. At the end of the day, actors are humans who have their lives outside the roles they play—take Maine as the prime example.
Ending the topic of their love team on a good note, Maine clarified that she and Alden are still friends and have maintained a good relationship until now.
