From his colorful and eclectic wardrobe to his gender-bending sense of style, here are some reasons why Harry Styles is a real fashion icon
Last night, the Philippine Arena turned into Harry’s House as he performed for his Filipino fans. This year marks the fifth year since his last trip to the Philippines, but the time spent waiting was surely not wasted. Most of his fans are not only excited and amazed by his great singing ability, but also because of his impeccable taste in clothing. In fact, most of them went all out last night dressed in colorful and patterned outfits, which is a clear tribute to Harry’s exquisite sense of style.
Here are some of the reasons why Harry’s fashion style is apart from the rest:
Always adding flair to basic wardrobe items
Whether it is a simple button-down shirt or an old pair of trousers, you can always count on Harry and expect that he will find a way to jazz it up. Just like last night, he might have worn a plain raglan shirt, but it appeared extra and elevated since it was covered with sequins. He perfectly matched it with a powder blue pants and Adidas Gazelle sneakers. In an interview, Harry shared that when it comes to his outfits, he looks up to different showmen like Prince, David Bowie, and Elton John, so you should never expect that he would settle on wearing something less and dull. “I think if you get something that you feel amazing in, it’s like a superhero outfit. Clothes are there to have fun with and experiment with and play with.” Styles added.
Exemplifying the best of gender-bending style
Who could forget when Harry wore a black-trimmed lace gown and a matching navy blazer from Gucci? Some have praised it, while others have said that Harry just looks “too feminine” in it. When asked about his fashion taste, Harry amazingly responded “What’s really exciting is that all of these lines are just kind of crumbling away. When you take away ‘There’s clothes for men and there’s clothes for women,’ once you remove any barriers, obviously you open up the arena in which you can play. I’ll go to shops sometimes, and I just find myself looking at the women’s clothes thinking they’re amazing. It’s like anything — anytime you’re putting barriers up in your own life, you’re just limiting yourself. There’s so much joy to be had in playing with clothes. I’ve never really thought too much about what it means — it just becomes this extended part of creating something.”

Having no qualms about donning bright and vibrant clothing
While most men are not too comfortable to be seen in such bright hues, Harry is squarely in the other camp. By using vibrant colors in his outfits, he always manages to make them more playful and interesting. Consider his attire from the recent Grammys. Harry appeared at the event covered in vivid colors and glitter with the jumpsuit he donned. The square neckline jumpsuit was sparkling in 250,000 Swarovski crystals and in nine distinct colors.
Always looking dapper, edgy, and confident
While Harry is most known for wearing wild and wacky ensembles, he can easily pull off a sleek and sophisticated look at any moment, proving that guys should never confine themselves in one fashion style alone. Among Harry’s many striking and stylish outfits, the one he wore to the 2023 BRIT Awards was one of the standouts. Styles wore a black Nina Ricci jacket with flared sleeves and pants. His already dapper appearance was elevated by the addition of a black corsage-style necktie.

Blurring the lines between vintage and modern styles
Harry is also well-known for giving vintage styles a contemporary and up-to-date twist. From the tailored trousers to the patterned jackets, Styles ensures that every detail of his ensembles has a fresh and current appeal. It can be recalled that Harry made a style statement when he attended the Venice Film Festival last year in a ’70s inspired suit from his Gucci HA HA HA collection. Styles was dressed in a formal navy suit with an exaggerated baby blue collared shirt. With the addition of his signature rings and Gucci sunglasses, the ensemble took on a more modern air.
