Following a lauded and lucrative line of succession of the hotly anticipated retail tradition, Moschino and H&M go all out and throw the biggest, boldest and blinged out party with its wild, crazy and fun collaboration. What, did you expect anything less?

“It should feel a little like a greatest hits collection, but I promise it will still be new, still feel fresh…” teased Moschino Creative Director, Jeremy Scott in an earlier interview with H&M. The announcement of the highly anticipated partnership between the retail giant and designer had just been revealed and as with every collaboration prior, everyone wanted to know: What will this collection ultimately look like?
Well, look no further, because in true Moschino fashion, it is taking H&M on a fashion trip that is well, out of this world.
A veritable and visceral mix of pop culture references, anachronisms and silhouettes, the #H&Moschino collection is a dive into what is exaggerated, in-your-face and an overdose of fun. With the rundown of pieces, in its full spectrum of styles and shapes, you will surely find a piece that will not only catch your eye, but match your personality as well. From patterned parkas, Disney-emblazoned sports tees, glittered outerwear, oversized denim, deliciously decorated leather, chainlinks and even condom-printed shirts, Jeremy Scott was right on the money when he said it was to be a greatest hits sort of collection.
Paying homage to the house that has gained notoriety for going all out the big, bold and bright meter (SpongeBob-, Barbie- and McDonald’s-themed outings anyone?), the H&Moschino collab is a coming together that is far from being gimmicky. If at all, it stretches ones visual imagination that cashes in on the currency of inclusivity and representation.
“Whenever I design, I think about my friends. The Moschino [tv] H&M lookbook is like a party; celebrating the fun, the pop, the creativity and the energy of the people and the collection,” explains Jeremy Scott of the accompanying campaign lookbook that is currently making the rounds online and firing up social media timelines as we speak. As diverse and dynamic as the superseding fashion is, the lookbook anchors on relatibility, with Scott throwing a bangin’ bash featuring his real-life friends such as Aquaria (season 10 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race), Amiaya, twins and influencers Aya and Ami, Sakura Bready (Scott’s assistant at Moschino) and Pablo Olea (Scott’s best friend and head of global PR and communications of Moschino).
If there is anything to take from the H&Moschino collection so far, is that it the limits of imagination in relation to fun really doesn’t exist. Traditionally hunkered down by so many rules and age-old what-nots, the retail union of Moschino and H&M reveals that at the core of fashion is really a serving of unabashed and unapologetic sense of fun.
Needless to say, we are going to make a mad dash for the racks once the Moschino x H&M collab drops globally, in select stores and online on November 8, 2018.
