Keeping it real and honest
Being in the industry for quite some time, the Kapuso star knows the value of his fans and how, without them, success would not be possible. And during his unexpected yet life-changing partnership with Maine Mendoza, he has understood the impact of supporters more than ever. But along with making the audience happy is the awareness of how far it should go.
Years after they parted ways as a pairing, Richards continues to respect his history with his past leading lady by speaking up on their real status. “I already said my piece about this. It’s not true. Wala pong katotohanan lahat. Wala po kaming anak. We never got married. We don’t have a love child,” he firmly said. In July 2023, Mendoza tied the knot with Arjo Atayde.
Going beyond the work hours
Last year, Richards stepped into the directorial shoes with Out of Order. Sharing the screen with Heaven Peralejo, the two have also formed a good relationship while working together. During the actress’ birthday celebration, the Sparkle artist surprised her with this presence and even a bouquet of flowers. He was even spotted dancing with Heaven and her mother as well. Quality time must be Alden’s way of speaking love to his co-stars.

Taking care of bonds
In his movie comeback post-pandemic, Alden chose to work with another Kapamilya artist. This time, he starred opposite Julia Montes for Five Breakups and a Romance. In several interviews, the two fondly talked about their relationship, describing each other as someone who gets the other in terms of personal and professional values. Coming from the actress herself, she marveled at the actor’s genuine care for everyone.
“[Sometimes kasi ‘di ba] sa showbiz, nakikita natin ‘yung on cam. But Alden, ‘yung kindness and goodness on cam, more than pa ‘yun sa off cam. The way siya mag-alaga, to the point na ako na ‘yung nagpapakalma sa kanya na, ‘Okay na, kumalma ka na.’ Iniisip niya lahat.”
Making the friendship work
If there is a duo that we really missed, it’s Kathryn and Alden. Since their 2019 film Hello, Love, Goodbye, the two have always been all praises for each other with how they managed to make it work despite working together for the very first time. “Ang laking tulong po niya sa akin, ‘yung respeto, nakita niya lahat ng adjustment. Sana mag-open ito [the film] ng maraming opportunities sa kanya kasi he’s a good person, a wonderful person. Sana this won’t be the last,” she expressed in the thanksgiving party of the film.

The actor’s attendance at Bernardo’s intimate beach birthday bash made not just Kathryn happy, but also their supporters. And even during the Kapamilya actress’ surprise celebration with her team, Alden was there to celebrate with her. He walked in with a bouquet of flowers and a special gift for the celebrant, and stayed to interact with the guests as well. We do hope that we get to see their bond again on screen as co-actors for another project.
