Though Chelsea Manalo ended her Miss Universe journey at the top 30, her evolved pasarela dazzled the universe, leaving a lasting impression of grace and confidence
Heartbroken Filipinos thought Chelsea Manalo deserved to be included in the top 12 roster of the Miss Universe competition after her runway strut during the swimsuit segment. The Bulakenya beauty queen unveiled a much more refined and enhanced saunter than her signature tampisaw walk, gliding with the grace of a goddess on water—her steps restrained and disciplined yet exuberant, with a subtle drag of each foot that created a splash rather than a mere dip.

Manalo first showcased her tampisaw walk at the Miss Universe Philippines competition; she revealed during her homecoming that it is influenced by OPM band Lola Amour’s hit track Raining In Manila and also reflects Bulacan’s frequent floods. Inspired by its namesake, which means to play or splash in water, the beauty queen’s movement during the national competition echoed the rhythm of rain.
But this morning, Philippines’ bet sashayed down the runway with 29 other candidates in a stunning two-piece lavender bikini and a sheer gold cape. On the Mexico stage, her pasarela was a far more refined and graceful version of her signature tampisaw walk. With every step, she moved with the poise and fluidity of a goddess gliding across water, her motions effortlessly captivating—measured yet fluid, graceful yet commanding. Her effortless glide carried an undeniable power, and though it wasn’t enough to secure a spot in the top 12, it left an indelible impression and captivated all who watched.
Netizens had high hopes of witnessing this tampisaw walk during the preliminaries, but were disappointed when she forwent it. However, during the finals, not only did Manalo deliver the walk, but she also performed a more enhanced and polished version that left everyone in awe. It was a masterstroke, proving she had saved her best for the grandest stage.
Though Manalo was not able to showcase this walk a second time, Filipinos still hope to see her graceful, water-like glide return, even if not on the stage in Mexico.
