It’s ironic how change is the only constant thing in this world. Lovers, friendships, and even careers have expiration dates. Moreover, we can all agree that if there is one thing that this pandemic has opened our eyes to, it’s that anything can disappear in an instant. That’s why now more than ever, resilience is required to survive. Nothing ever comes easy in life, and as they say, the only way we can achieve our goals is to adapt.
As you’ve seen in the many faces of our MEGAStyle covers, we always position ourselves to be chameleons of the industry. We do this to create an avenue for stories that need to be heard while executing creative concepts in a sartorial manner. Our cover girl, Kaila Estrada, represents a step in the right direction as we approach the aftermath of 2020. Despite being a shy and soft-spoken woman at the start of her career, she was able to grow as a confident woman. She is bolder, braver, and more beautiful than ever as she discovers herself more in this new world.
While Kaila was putting on Ever Bilena’s Blush Rush collection with make-up artist, Aica Latay, we had the chance to catch up with the young beauty. This is what she has to say about adapting to the change of tides.
Stepping Back To Move Forward
During quarantine, we have all gone through a bit of introspection in one way or another. The same goes for our cover girl, as she took the time to step back and re-evaluate herself. “I took a lot of time to reflect and re-evaluate. I asked myself a lot of questions, like: What do I want to be doing for the rest of my life? What would make me feel stable and fulfilled at the same time? How can I evolve? What should I do next? These questions have led me to try out new things, discovering new passions, and seeing where it all takes me.”
If you check her Instagram, you’ll notice that the digital influencer has picked up two creative hobbies. First, she’s been serving to look after look of Euphoria inspired make-up on her feed. Second, she has started her own local dessert business called, GOODY.
When asked about how she was able to adapt to the changes of quarantine, she says, “Content-wise, I learned to be more resourceful, I even started creating mini photoshoots inside my house. I’ve also been working on creating videos for my own YouTube channel.” And mini photoshoots she did. She’s been using blush, lipstick, eyeliner, glitter powders, and highlighter to their full potential, which is why she enjoyed the MEGAStyle shoot featuring the collection of Ever Bilena. Here, she was able to try out avant-garde make-up styles with the new Ever Bilena Blush Rush and the Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks. From the eyebrows to the lips, Kaila happily pushed the limit with each beauty look.
The Climb
Kaila has been in the industry for seven years now. Her career in modeling started when she walked in a Randy Ortiz show at the tender age of seventeen. Since then, she has joined and won a modeling contest, appeared on numerous campaigns, and has started dipping her toes in the world of acting.
“I’m the type of person who finds comfort in the familiar. Taking myself out of these comfort zones has to lead to personal growth and many new opportunities. I’ve learned that the fear of failure must never dictate my decisions. Now more than ever I have been open to trying new things and setting my sights on what’s next,” says Kaila.
Despite such a successful career, the young model has gone through her fair share of hardships throughout the years. As a content creator, brand ambassador, and model, it can be hard to juggle the responsibilities of being a public figure. She recalls the most difficult part of her career, as she shares, “The hardest part was being honest with myself about where I am and where I want to be in my life. Life is short. If you want to do something or work towards something, the time is now. “
Risk Over Regret
“It’s adapting a constant battle. Anxiety is something many people face and I am no stranger to this. The possibility of failure will always be present, but so will the possibility of success,” Kaila wisely shares. “So, I just keep telling myself, what do I have to lose?” And it’s true. In life, you never get what you don’t ask for. That’s why if you’re planning to do something, then don’t wait for a sign. Get in there wholeheartedly with all you’ve got—just as Kaila does.
As her parting advice goes, she shares, “Trying something new is always going to be scary, but I would rather take the risk than one day regret that I didn’t.” Because here’s a little secret, reader: No one is truly unafraid. We all go through life with shaky hands and sweaty palms until we get to the next big thing that scares us.
