In an exclusive with Jake Galvez, the makeup artist shares how he translated Belle’s concert theme through her classic yet modern glam for Believe
If there is anything that Belle’s 22nd birthday concert has proven, best believe it is the fact that she is shining brighter than ever. Fresh from her first lead teleserye and her latest album release, the artist was the gift that kept on giving for her Believe, her sold-out, star-studded birthday concert. That night, there were so many reasons to believe that she was a star to behold—her song and dance numbers, multiple outfit changes, and of course, her makeup. With that, MEGA Entertainment talks to Belle’s trusted makeup artist, Jake Galvez, on what makes the actress’ glam—and even their relationship with each other—always natural, fresh, and most important of all, long-lasting.

The Face Card on Stage
According to the celebrity makeup artist, Belle’s makeup look mirrored the concert’s theme—classic yet modern, sophisticated yet still youthful. “I focused on enhancing her natural beauty while incorporating some dramatic elements like microcrystals. They are suitable for stage lighting and the overall vibe of the performance,” Jake shares with MEGA Entertainment. “This time around, I experimented with some new elements, particularly in the eye area, which gave a dramatic look under the intense stage lights.”
Galvez played with the dimension of Belle’s eyes for her glam, mixing soft browns for the base with a layer of white shimmer. Extending the white shine to the inner corners was a technique of strobing, which adds more definition to one’s face. Finally, the winged line further shaped the performer’s eye look—enough to attract and command when Belle meets her fan’s eyes during her stag numbers.

Contrary to the belief the multiple layers is the key to keep the glam on for long hours, Jake chose to keep the strokes blended out and fresh. “I also pay attention to how the makeup looks from different angles and distances, making adjustments to ensure it looks flawless up close and from afar,” he points out.
Glam Free From Worry
For long hours of exposure that involve sweat, harsh lights, and activity, the makeup artist gives two important keys for a long-lasting and budge-proof look—preparation and quality of products. He reveals, “I start with a good primer, and use long-wear foundation and waterproof products. Setting everything with a strong setting spray is crucial.” For retouches, he was ready backstage with essentials such as blotting papers, tissues, and setting powder. “Quick and efficient retouches between sets help maintain the look without interrupting the flow of the performance.”
From singing to engaging with the audience, Belle’s lips were also in action that night. Galvez stressed the importance, too, of having a reliable lip product that’s long-lasting and transfer-proof to other surfaces such as microphones or outfits.
The Beauty Philosophy
In an ever-changing industry such as show business, it pays to have a team that shares the same principles as you do. When it comes to Belle and Jake, they both stand their ground on the power of authenticity and self-expression. “We both value the idea that beauty comes from within, and that makeup should enhance—not mask—one’s natural features.”

It’s a timeless trend that enhances natural beauty and promotes self-care.”
