After the end of Mars Ravelo’s Darna and her previous Olay partnership in 2016, Janella Salvador makes a brand comeback and strongly enters a new chapter of her life where she welcomes her glow even off-screen
While Mars Ravelo’s Darna had been long anticipated, it was the heroine’s archenemy Valentina who made its retelling even more interesting. Valentina became a relatable villain who captured people’s hearts through her populist talking points. Choosing the right actress to play her had to have guts, power, and confidence, and these winning serpent queen qualities were personified by none other than Janella Salvador.
After taking a break from the showbiz industry to give birth to her son Jude in 2020, the hit teleserye Darna marked Janella’s big TV comeback and her Olay ambassadorship as her strong beauty comeback. With these great returns that highlight her talent and confidence, she speaks up on her recent re-emergence journey to the spotlight.
The comeback of a lifetime
Sometimes, it can be challenging to get out of your comfort zone. But Janella Salvador took the role of a morally gray anti-hero and showed the world how villains were also human beings with a heart. The actress admitted that playing Regina and Valentina in Darna is one of her most unforgettable roles.
“Na-inspire ako kay Regina, I really look up to her and want to be like her. I really want to fight for what is right. I want to be able to have a voice and be a voice of a generation,” she said, during the press conference for the series finale.
In the series, Janella plays lawyer and vlogger Regina Vanguardia, who spoke about the truth on the injustices ailing the fictional town of Nueva Esperanza. In her endearing portrayal, the audience found themselves nodding to a character whose alter ego was a supervillain.
While she received the warmest response to her character, she also doubted herself. She struggled with a lot of confidence issues. “Siguro after giving birth rin, [I’ve] been hoping and praying na sabi ko ‘ano kaya ang magiging comeback and big break [ko]?’ And ito nga, biglang nag-rise ang opportunity na ‘to, so, I took it.”
It wasn’t the only opportunity Janella took. As she made waves with her acting prowess in her first-time villain role, she also returned to Olay in a #BackToSlayWithOlay campaign.
Back to slay with Olay
After Janella’s previous tie-up with Olay in 2016, she’s back again with the brand to be their newest ambassador. With so many life changes, she admitted that she’s “ready to take on different roles” so she ensures that her skin is well taken care of.
The #BackToSlayWithOlay campaign drives celebrities and influencers to personify the impact of a powerful comeback. Janella is one of the most prominent personalities to embody just that. Boasting stunning skin, Janella shares her no-filter glow with Olay Luminous Vitamin C Serum for all her in-person catch-ups, meetings, and shoots.
The Olay Luminous Vitamin C Serum reduces dark spots for an even glow. The concentrated formula is non- greasy and absorbs quickly while penetrating 10 skin surface layers deep to reveal an even skin tone and texture.
The Super Serum’s key ingredients, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Vitamin C, work in synergy to reduce the appearance of dark spots. It also has Pro-Vit B5, which soothes and moisturizes skin, and Vitamin E, which protects the skin from radical damage. With this formula, Janella is ready to face the world in her hot season with her radiant look and ginger hair.
The best kind of beautiful
Janella believes that “everyone has the capacity to be at their best beautiful.” Before doing any skincare routine, she advises: “Never ever forget to remove your makeup when you get home.”
It’s easy to forget about self-care when life gets busy, but with Olay, Janella is ready for the next chapter of her life, wherever it takes her, because she knows she glows on-screen and off-screen. Beautiful and healthy skin is the key to a radiant complexion, so she’s always confident, even without filters.
