One of the best things about Korean music or K-Pop is its ability to change with the seasons. Spring, summer, fall, and winter make debuts and comebacks more exciting, especially when the songs can be felt with the current weather. It makes the listeners get into the whole mood. And this season, we have three artists who will bring the summer flavor into our ears—NewJeans, ITZY, and Jungkook.

As fans highly anticipate the releases of these artists, we might just be in for cool new sounds that will truly shine as bright as the sun. With that, we break down what we can expect from new tunes of our favorite K-Pop idols. 

An ethereal fairy tale

Nostalgia has always been the strongest suit of NewJeans and it seems like the girl group is still playing with this concept. That is no surprise as this makes them stand out from the rest. With their second EP, Get Up, they are collaborating with Powerpuff Girls, just in time for the latter’s 25th year anniversary. 

If that isn’t nostalgic enough for you, the recent teasers of NewJeans feature Minji, Hyein, Haerin, Hanni, and Danielle in ballet wear and fairy-like looks in nature. Based on these concepts, it surely feels like we’re diving into the group’s very own fairy tale soon. 

A breath of fresh air

BTS maknae Jungkook finally confirmed his single “Seven” today, delighting ARMYs all over the world. Although this may be a solo track, it seems to pay homage to the other members just by the title itself. With BIGHIT describing the track as a “an invigorating ‘summer song’ that is sure to have you experience the full breadth of Jungkook’s charm,” it may just be a mix of pop and R&B that will surely fit the singer-songwriter’s light, breezy voice.

A summer adventure to remember

Each summer has a story, and what’s one without an exciting journey? With ITZY’s new EP called Kill My Doubt, we are in for one hell of a ride. Based on the first teaser and the album design, Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna will be playing with the concept of a boxing match this time around. However, futuristic elements with their looks and the set design are also featured in the said teaser. 

Always surprising their fans with what’s next, this concept might also be a disguise to yet another theme shift for the quintet. One thing’s for sure with ITZY, though—they will make their fans go loco this summer.
