As she enters her solo era, Kathryn Bernardo has switched from the nice to the naughty list with her recent style choices
Taking back the reins of your life can be daunting if you’ve been with the comfort of someone for a long time. It’s almost an instinct to consider another presence in your decisions and it can be a bit disorienting to go back to doing things on your own, but things get easier and better once you’ve gotten the hang of it.
The perfect example of this would be Kathryn Bernardo and her recent decision to forego all things sweet and dainty for more daring and experimental outfits. Here, we did a quick style breakdown to keep you up to speed on the star’s recent looks.
On the Nice List:
The Girl Next Door
She was definitely still in her nice era in this blush pink dress from OVERTHESEA. It had a subtle touch of romance because of the ruffles cascading from the neckline down to the skirt. The overall look is pretty simple since all the attention is on the dress, and she topped it off with a matching floral headpiece.
Kathryn was slowly transitioning from her sweet and youthful aesthetic to a more sultry look with this slip-on dress that showed off more skin than usual. It’s still on the sophisticated side because of the fit and the sunshine yellow color of the dress, but the low neckline and high slit made it look more mature.
If you’re wondering how to debut a new look without being too obvious, you’d want to take note of how Kathryn did it with this Jacquemus dress. While the light toned, linen fabric gave the dress a more carefree feel, it was juxtaposed with a low back and runched detailing to give an effect of a sinched waist and a hourglass figure.
On the Naughty List:
Dare to Bare
It was her red carpet look for the ABS-CBN Ball that became cherry on top of her nice-to-naughty style shift. This custom Mark Bumgarner dress showed off her figure since the top hugged her bust perfectly, while the extreme side cutouts elongated and exposed her toned torso. The high slit that started right below her hips completed the daring nature of the gown.
The well-loved actress channels her inner bad girl with this white Ronny Kobo piece while promoting A Very Good Girl. While the look was keep clean and straightforward with minimal jewelry it was the fitted silhouette and plunging neckline that made the look effortlessly sexy.
What’s a modern way to wear a little black dress? How about a matching crop top and low-rise maxi skirt. This is one of Kathryn’s more casual choices that proves that you don’t need to be over-the-top to make a statement.
Good as Gold
Two looks of hers at the recent ABS-CBN Christmas Christmas Special are worth mentioning since they fit right in her style shift. The first ensemble was a custom gold Mark Bumgarner jumpsuit that was made with slight opening at the neckline to give us a peek of her matching gold bralette underneath. It also perfectly complemented her new ginger hair.
Her performance of Water by Tyla is one of the most talked about segments during the show, and it’s definitely one way to announce that she is in her single era. The overall look highlighted her toned physique because of the upper body detailing while the distressed denims and sequined sleeves for a rugged chic finish.
As for the last look, she donned a daring red dress designed by Robin Ortega. Since the chosen hue was quite a power statement as it is, the construction of the piece was kept simple with the figure-hugging silhouette and the tie detailing finished at the front.
One thing’s for sure—Kathryn Bernardo has displayed how to properly debut one’s rebranding.
