Long Nails are Dead, and the Natural Nail Trend is Back in 2024

Long Nails are Dead, and the Natural Nail Trend is Back in 2024

By

Trends come and go, but more often than not, they return in waves. Just as claw-like acrylics and press-ons took over our feeds over the past several years, nail extensions are now on a downtrend. The replacement? Short and natural nails. If you haven’t noticed, some of the biggest celebrities, influencers, and brands are promoting the return of natural nail beds, albeit with some variety through unique nail designs. We expect this to stay on-trend throughout the year, so if you’re thinking about giving your nails a rest, now’s the time to do it.

Pinks and nudes

The hyperfeminine wave and stripped-down beauty are still very much on the rise. Case in point: pale pinks and nudes are the celebrity go-tos. It’s utterly classic and an elegant finishing touch, especially if done with a sheer finish.

Pops of solid color

Understated nails aren’t your thing? Don’t worry—pops of solid color are still welcome in 2024. Vibrant colors pair nicely with short nails, so don’t shy away from sultry reds, glossy purples, and deep blues.

3D nail art

Nail designs using three-dimensional elements on short nails are also gaining traction in the local scene. 3D nail art gets its texture from things like charms and gems, but nail artists can also use layers of gel to create nail art like 3D chrome, flower patterns, and more.
