Staying true to her forward fashion aesthetic even in her most special day, KZ Tandingan finally said “I do” to TJ Monterde like a true modern bride of the 21st century.
Love truly knows no boundaries. Proving that even the coronavirus pandemic cannot put their special day on hold, KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde finally tied the knot last August 28, 2020. The moment the singer-songwriter posted a music video on her Youtube channel for her new song with TJ, “Can’t Wait To Say I Do,” we already knew that this is it.
The freshly launched music video includes clips from the wedding preps to the ceremony proper, which took place at The Farm at San Benito in Batangas. According to a post by Mayad Studios, the couple’s official photographer: “Friends to lovers, to husband and wife. It’s a love story many have already heard before, but TJ and KZ definitely proved that they are quite the extraordinary couple—since day one, and up to their wedding day. And so here it is—a wonderful surprise for most!”
“We didn’t think we could get married this year because our families are in Mindanao and couldn’t fly in,” KZ explains on her Instagram Post. “But our folks being the selfless, understanding, and amazing parents, they encouraged us to get wed.” So, as they were faced with a modern-day challenge, they also needed to find a modern-day solution.
The couple had a very intimate garden wedding with only a handful of people physically present, while other guests attended through a live zoom coverage. And since KZ’s biological dad wasn’t present, her showbiz father music icon Martin Nievera, who was was the judge from X Factor Philippines where she won, walked her down the aisle. “Bittersweet getting married without my parents walking me down the aisle, but I’m thankful that my other dad, stepped in to give me away,” the singer captions.
Under The Mango Tree
The long-time couple got engaged back in December 2019 when TJ proposed to KZ after a performance held at a cafe in Antipolo. Then in March 2020, the two had their pre-nuptial photoshoot in Japan wearing a white suit ensemble complemented by a veil and holding a bouquet.
KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde’s symbolic wedding was held under a three-hundred-year-old Mango Tree. And during the ceremony, she kept her unconventional fashion sense intact donning an all-white double-breasted tweed suit jacket by Light Shine White (LSW), which is only fitting for an unconventional kind of wedding, too. Then she finished her look by accessorizing with a huge pearl neckpiece.
The groom, on the other hand, looked dashingly dapper in a coffee-colored suit jacket paired with cream trousers by LSW. As for the most important jewelry of the wedding, the two love birds officially tied the knot wearing J’s Diamond Jewelry.
