OMEGA Unveils Two Watches For the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

By

With the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 fast-approaching, OMEGA releases two limited edition watches.

OMEGA is famed for having one of the best—if not the best—luxury watch in (and off) the planet. It has become the first choice of NASA in 1965 on the Gemini 3 mission and the first watch worn on the Moon in 1969. Apart from that, it has been the official timekeeping device of the Olympics on 28 ocassions since 1932.

So as we are just one year away from the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, we finally get a closer look at two of OMEGA’s Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition timepieces. When the 2020 Olympics finally begins on the July 24 2020, the Swiss label will be at the event continuing its proud legacy behind the clock.

Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition

Just like the athletes at the Olympic Games, the Seamaster Aqua Terra performs beautifully on land and water. For this sporty model, OMEGA has introduced the collection’s first ceramic dial. It’s crafted with a polished blue finish and a laser-engraved Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games emblem.

Elsewhere, the symmetrical 41 mm case is built from stainless steel and includes a sapphire crystal caseback with a transferred Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games emblem.

Limited to just 2,020 pieces, the watch comes ready for action on a structured blue rubber strap and includes an additional stainless steel bracelet in its special presentation box. Inside, the timepiece is driven by the OMEGA Master Chronometer Calibre 8900. This makes it as the Swiss industry’s highest standard of precision and magnetic-resistance—which is exactly what you’d expect from an Official Timekeeper.

Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition

Every host country of the Olympic Games brings a unique flair and culture to the event. So Japan is no exception. As the Swiss watchmaker is looking forward to its time in Tokyo, it has crafted this patriotic Seamaster with a true Japanese touch.

The 39.5 mm case is in stainless steel. It also includes a white ceramic bezel ring with its diving scale in OMEGA Liquidmetal. In tribute to the year of Tokyo 2020, the number 20 on the bezel is filled with red liquid ceramic.

The polished white ceramic dial continues the Tokyo theme with a special lollipop central seconds hand. Beautifully representing the flag of Japan, its tip has been crafted with a varnished red dot.

As it’s also limited to just 2,020 models, this watch is driven by the OMEGA Master Chronometer Calibre 8800. It also features a sapphire crystal caseback with a transferred Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games emblem. It is delivered on a white leather strap and includes a stainless steel bracelet and additional NATO strap in its presentation box.
