Majoy Baron Shows that She’s a Star Player On and Off Court

With her towering height, modelesque physique, and volleyball championships under her belt, Majoy Baron proves to everyone that there’s no secret recipe to success but sheer hard work. She rose into volleyball stardom after winning three championships and an MVP award playing for the De La Salle Lady Spikers from 2016 to 2018. After her collegiate stint, she has moved on to become a professional player for F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and the Philippine National Team. But it’s not just all about volleyball for Majoy as she has already been spotted walking the runway for different fashion shows like MEGA Fashion Week and Rajo Laurel’s 25th Anniversary Show at The Red Charity Gala. MEGA and Converse sat down with the star player and talked about how can girls come into terms with their own selves and find that confidence within.

How do you redefine being a girl in this day and age?

“I think women in this age are confident cause they believe in themselves and [they are more] comfortable in their own skin.”

What is your experience in breaking through your own walls to come out strong and be one-of-a-kind in your field?

Majoy Baron

“By working hard everyday. Yun talaga key para mag-succeed ka sa field especially in volleyball. There are a lot of challenges physically and emotionally then dadagdag pa yung time management since nag-sasabay pa yung school, work, and volleyball.”

How did this help you reach where you are now?

“Hard work and dedication dun sa sport and dun sa mga extra activities nag-help to build my self-confidence.”

In your own words, what makes you bold and unafraid to go beyond your limits?

Majoy Baron

“Siguro yun na rin yung self-confidence since na-reach ko yung certain goals ko sa field ng volleyball that made me more confident in everything that I do kahit outside volleyball pa yan. Meron na kong pride sa sarili ko na I can do everything dahil na-surpass ko na yung mga goals ko.”

What tips do you have to empower women to break through their own personal hindrances and seek out greatness?

“Pinaka-effective talaga yung self-love. Self-love means taking care of yourself and appreciating different types of beauty. Kahit ano pang sabihin ng society na standard of beauty if you love yourself enough to take care of yourself then that’s empowerment.”
