The allure of soft smoky eyes

Smoky eye makeup has always been a perennial favorite in the beauty department since the roaring 20s, but its popularity comes as no surprise. It’s a versatile category that complements any eye shape, skin tone, and style preference. Apart from that, there is something quite special about a smoky eye that radiates a new sense of energy. Feeling sultry? Go for darker and neutral tones. Feeling playful? Incorporate a hint of color. Either way, any wearer can own the look.

The beauty breakdown

Mastering the art of the smoky eye requires time and practice. However, it’s not impossible. In his post, Jelly Eugenio revealed an easy tutorial for achieving the look. “Apply a shimmery bronze shade all over the eye,” he wrote in the caption. “Line the top and bottom eye line with black liner and add a wing.” To finish the eye look, he advises to apply two to four coats of mascara with an option of even adding faux lashes. Best to also pair the look with a nude or neutral lip with a slight shine.

Take it from a pro

There is no other makeup format that is as versatile as a smoky eye look. In fact, it works well in any situation and occasion. Make it subtle with a combination of a rosy undertone and smoked-out edges.

Looking for ways to incorporate colors but don’t want to go overboard? Opt for tones like orange-brown, taupe-rose, or mauve-burgundy. Elsewhere, a play on a darker palette and a gel liner can turn it into the ultimate night makeup.
