We rounded up the five Barbie looks that Margot Robbie recreated for the Barbie press tour and premiere
The Barbie press tour has done nothing but give us incredibly chic looks by live-action Barbie herself, Margot Robbie. The actress has been making her presence known on social media with her busy schedule and fabulous pink ensembles inspired by the iconic doll we all grew to love—or even hate. For a quick roundup of her press tour looks, we listed five Barbie doll-inspired fits that Margot Robbie wore in the past few days.

Solo in the Spotlight, 1960
Straight from the pink carpet, this classic black gown is a custom Schiaparelli piece worn by Margot for the LA premiere. It’s directly inspired by the 1960 Solo in the Spotlight Barbie, which we can reference as the ultimate siren look of the past. The design was a bit controversial with its bare shoulders, tight fit, and the sultry makeup look.
To honor the vintage Barbie, Margot Robbie recreated the whole look—from her dress to her hair. The dress was bedazzled from the neckline to the hem while a stiff tulle was used to create that fanned out finish seen at the bottom. To complete it, a dainty red rose was added right above the tulle.
Earring Magic, 1992
We’re in the era of the early 90s with this trendy all-pink ensemble from the Earring Magic line from 1992. The resemblance is uncanny with its sheer neon pink long-sleeved top layered with a Balmain corset dress and chainlinks on the waist. The star earrings were also incorporated, while the pink pumps were from Manolo Blahnik.
The Original, 1959
It’s the doll that started it all. Margot Robbie takes us back to 1959 by opting to mimic the look of the first Barbie doll. There were minor changes, like the mini dress finish instead of the classic vintage-cut swimsuit as seen on the doll. However, the rest of the look was kept intact—from the high ponytail, hoop earrings, cat-eye shades, to the black peep-toe heels.
Sparkling Pink, 1964
She’s giving us flight chic with her pearl-decorated ensemble from the 1964 Barbie Sparkling Pink doll. There were also some changes, but we can see the resemblance from the cropped blazer, mini skirt, and pink bralette. The cherry on top of the outfit was the dainty hat finished with a bow at the front—an important detail from the actual Barbie doll.
Totally Hair, 1992
Make way for the best-selling Barbie! The Totally Hair Barbie from 1992 holds the record for the longest successful toy sale, so it only makes sense for the star to dress up as the iconic doll. Margot’s look included the neon psychedelic-like print, high neck collar, pointed heels, and curly hair from the actual Barbie. There were minor adjustments like the ruffled hem, but overall, there is no doubt that the actress pulled it off stylishly.
