As she bids farewell to another iconic character of hers, Maris Racal gives Irene Tiu her own spin-off in chick flick style!
Miss Ernalyn Tiu, finally signing off. After months of portraying her first rich girl role, Maris Racal finally retires Irene Tiu and her bangs as Can’t Buy Me Love ends. With her brightly-colored suits and aircon-fit remarks and jokes, the beloved Tiu sister decided to say goodbye in the most creative way possible—by recreating chick flicks.

Let’s face it—if there is one character that deserves her spin-off after the drama-thriller series, it’s Irene. How were her college escapades if she’s that maarte? Ever imagine how she is when shopping and traveling to another country? What’s the next chapter for her and Snoop? These questions we like to have answers for as we can’t help but hate and love the transformed sister of Caroline. While we have our fingers crossed for a possible Irene Tiu sequel spin-off or the next #MaThon project with Anthony Jennings, here’s how Maris bid farewell to her role in the main character energy that she deserves through these posters.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
What’s one common thing about Bridget Jones and Irene Tiu? They have both been changed by love. “I don’t think you’re an idiot at all! I like you very much, just as you are” Mark Darcy once said to the blonde character. Isn’t that how Snoop thinks of Irene, too? We can only hope to read about her diary entries about her Poop Guy, and how it went from hatred to true love.
There’s Something About Mary
The new side of the wild and liberated Tiu sister indeed came out after her first interaction with Snoop. From their accidental stepping-on-poop moments to their comical banters, SnoRene’s funny moments can be reminiscent of the 1998 film. And just like Cameron Diaz, Maris carries the charm of a romantic-comedy actress. Who’s ready for more of her iconic roles? We are!
New in Town
Inspired by another film starring Renée Zellweger, Maris definitely resonates with Lucy Hill when she had to give up her carefree lifestyle to get into her serious mode. While Irene isn’t exactly new in Binondo, her Shi Wei Tian challenge with Auntie Cathy definitely is an eye-opener. While finding a romantic interest in the respective towns was a bonus for the two main characters, Lucy’s and Irene’s discovery of their capabilities as a career woman is the most important part of their story.
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Need we say more when the title of the 2004 Lindsay Lohan film describes Irene enough? The Tiu sister can definitely do a number of performances in her own club with her singer side, one that she couldn’t unleash then. “Just believe in yourself,” sings Lindsay as Lola. Irene did, and so she has a club and a good man in her arms!
