In recent times, Ms. D Distura made history as Marqed Salon’s first-ever creative artist. Apart from her hardwork and dedication to her craftsmanship, her passion stood out. “You can really see from Ms. D that she loves what she’s doing,” Mark Anthony Rosales shared. “Nakita ko talaga sa kanya ‘yun nu’ng nag step-up siya sa trabaho niya during the pandemic. It’s that one thing that I hope she can also share with the next generation of hairstylists.”
On her unmatched dedication
“Ms. D Distura actually entered Marqed Salon during the pandemic,” Mark Anthony Rosales reminisced about the time the creative artist joined his team. “Nagkaroon kami ng lack of manpower and one thing that really caught my attention [was] how she [stepped up].” Despite her status as a senior stylist, Mark detailed how she exceeded his expectations. “She took the role of a front officer, a scheduler, a content creator,” he shared. “I’m impressed because she knows na kailangan talaga ng help and she stepped up and took care of the branch.”
It’s undeniable that she is one artist to watch out for, but what makes her stand out is how she meets the criteria of a good creative hair artist. “Apart from having the vision and the skill, it’s also important that you know how to manage and you know how to take care of your clients,” the celebrity hairstylist shared. “And Ms. D checks all the boxes.”
On his passion to train
“I feel it is not only an obligation to share knowledge, but it is a responsibility to pass on the history of all disciplines in our craft,” Mark Anthony Rosales answered when asked about his own passion to train. “From professionalism to color, cutting, styling, and all parts within—[they] need to be translated for the next generation of hairdressers. Ms. D is my most tenured member of the salon and one of the most profound moments of my career is to appoint her as my first creative artist.”
On his vision for the future
Mark also shared one life-changing experience that helped him shape his vision for the salon. “I remember that time when I was starting in this industry and I told my mentor that I want to be exactly like him and he asked me to wait for my time,” he laughed. “Technically, I did not wait.” But kidding aside, he clarified that if there is one thing he wants to pass on to the next generation of hairstylists is to be more than just a potential talent.
“You know, when I do interviews and I ask them how they see themselves in 10 years, they always say the same thing: To have their own salon.” he reminisced. “And that inspired my vision for hair artists. My vision for Ms. D? For her to earn the title Marqed Salon by Ms. D. I want to pursue a program in the future for artists to have their names empowered by the salon because I want to give it to everyone who also has the heart for it and who wants to work hard for it.”
On his note to the new creative artist
It’s given that a new role can be exciting and daunting at the same time. But the celebrity hairstylist believes that Ms. D deserves the title. “I have watched her over the past few years and have been so proud of the person she’s become,” he wrote. “Ms. D is a talented and loving person, and she has the ability to make others feel important. She always cared so much about the brand and I appreciate everything about her.”
Mark also added a piece of advice for his creative artist. “Your new role calls for a busy schedule. Along the way, there will be sleepless nights and you will question your artistry. But just go back to your core, which is your passion and love of hairstyling,” he penned. “Just know that this is just the beginning. I’m sure your parents are watching you above. I’m proud of you. You are the future of Marqed Salon.”
