HOW HAS YOUR SIGNATURE LOOK EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS?
I’m widely known as the morena makeup artist, so my signature beauty look is really warm, sun-kissed tones, typically featuring shades of bronze, copper, and gold. But over the years, I’ve realized that being caged in one look will not help further my skills, so right now, I’m also exploring porcelain beauty looks: a luminous, fresh, and soft appearance that complements fair skin without appearing overly dramatic or heavy.
NAME YOUR TOP THREE MAKEUP PRODUCTS.
Since it’s humid in the Philippines, my top makeup product is a setting spray—specifically, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray or the GRWM Cosmetics Life Proof Fixing Spray. Second, a good mascara that opens up the eyes. Lastly, cheek tints, since they are multi-purpose and the true definition of versatile beauty. Makeup doesn’t have to be complicated, you just need to know how to take short cuts—beautifully.
DESCRIBE EACH OF YOUR MUSES.
I would describe Gabbi as creative. She knows what she wants, the nos and the yeses. Meanwhile, Klea is versatile since she can be masculine and feminine—the best of both worlds. For Megan, she is the definition of a perfect canvas as any look suits her. Then for Winwyn, she is simply a matte goddess since she loves all things matte, and she effortlessly pulls off the look. Lastly, Angelique is an absolute fashion genius. Her taste in fashion is unmatched, and her collaborative approach makes every project a true delight.
DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAKEUP LOOK.
For now, I don’t specifically have a dream makeup look. Rather, I want to be the country’s makeup trendsetter, just like how Pat McGrath sets the beauty trends every season.
WHAT ABOUT THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY DO YOU LIKE BEST?
It’s really not hard to love the beauty industry. There are so many things to celebrate about it, but the things I love the most about it are having that free will, that license to explore makeup looks—furthering my artistry—and meeting so many wonderful people and just hearing their stories and motivations.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR JASON DELOS REYES?
In the future, I would love to have my own makeup brand, a kind of brand that would offer an inclusive foundation shade range so that no morena would ever feel neglected and excluded.
