MEGA Editors Recall Memories Through These Signature Scents

By

From the reinvigorating oceanside during a hot summer day, to the alluring temptations of night life, our Editors sit around a table of fragrances and talk about the power of a good scent

Scent, emotion, and memory are intertwined in ways beyond belief. More than what we see or hear during certain points in our life, it’s often what we smell that becomes the gateway of recall later on. It’s the sweet vanilla notes on your mother’s jacket during a trip abroad, or the first spray of that fancy perfume you used during your first date ever.

In fact, if you’ve watched the hit Netflix series Emily In Paris, the partnership between the French fragrance giant Maison Lavaux and the exquisite hotel group Zimmer Hotels began with a slick elevator pitch by Emily using that same thought: “When you’re selling a house, the one thing you should do is bake cookies. The smell reminds people of home and warmth.” It’s a mystifying effect that we can’t seem to explain, but we are full aware of the effects of good perfume.

Putting their olfactory senses to the test, MEGA’s Managing Editor Trina Epilepsia-Boutain, MEGA’s Fashion Director Jebby Fronda, and MEGA Man’s Writer Kristoff Sison got into a roundtable discussion of some fragrant memories triggered by the signature scents of Issey Miyake, Dolce&Gabbana, and Narciso Rodriguez.

Listen to their conversations on cross-country travels, take in some points on building a fragrance wardrobe for yourself, and find what scent can compliment you by watching the video:
