The Screen Actors Guild Awards, or better known as SAG Awards, commenced last Monday and we can definitely say that history has been made. Alongside its fellow prestigious awards such as the Golden Globes and Oscars, obtaining a SAG award is an actor’s dream as they recognize the best performers in the film industry. Many categories are included as they criticize performances in both television and film.
Stars from across the industry were invited to celebrate the awards with their fellow colleagues, and there is no doubt that they attended the awards show with utmost elegance. And since the best of the best were awarded, it’s only fitting that we list down the best dressed women of the night.
Zendaya in Valentino Couture
SAG nominee Zendaya made her much-awaited appearance at the awards show after keeping things on the down low. The actress arrived in a romantic and sweet figure-hugging custom gown by Valentino. The silk duchess gave her dress a subtle shine as roses cascaded down from her hips to the hem.
Jenna Ortega in Vintage Versace
Wednesday Addams star Jenna Ortega goes into character mode in her vintage black Versace dress. An archival piece of the Italian house and a design by the late Gianni Versace, her dress oozed chic and edge with its draped leather finish, high slit, and asymmetrical sweetheart neckline.
Aubrey Plaza in Michael Kors
The actress represented her comedy-drama series, The White Lotus, donned in a custom Michael Kors dress. The sequinned bronze piece itself takes us back to the 70s with the crisscross bodice, waist cutouts, and the slit trailing down at the center of her skirt.
Viola Davis in Valentino Couture
Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, Viola Davis opted for a striking hue of yellow, which was also a custom design by Valentino. To contrast the vivid shade, the silhouette was kept clean and sleek with minimal details seen on her neckline.
Cara Delevingne in Carolina Herrera
Actress-model Cara Delevigne made her first appearance at the SAG Awards as the cast of Only Murders in the Building was nominated for Comedy Series Ensemble. Donned in an all black Carolina Herrera piece, the dress had a plunging neckline while the bodice was adorned with two black roses. Meanwhile, the lower half of the piece sported a billowed out skirt that opened at the center to reveal the tailored trousers underneath.
Michelle Yeoh in Schiaparelli
Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh made history at the SAG Awards by being the first Asian actress to win Best Actress with her stellar performance on Everything Everywhere All at Once. The actress received her award in a Schiaparelli SS23 piece that had the mix of class and ornateness with its use of the classic black dress and shredded yellow paper that trailed down from the neckline to the hem.
Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen
The cast of Women Talking was nominated for Motion Picture Cast, and Rooney Mara made her appearance wearing a black and white Alexander McQueen dress. The dress showcased such intricacy with its black and white lace appliqué dove embroidery against the white lace.
Meghann Fahy in Ralph Lauren
White Lotus actress Meghan Fahy opted to go for a subtle elegance with her form fitting dress by Ralph Lauren. She kept the look clean as her one shoulder dress featured a cutout by the waist and minimal details were added in terms of styling like the drop earrings from Cartier.
Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé
Actress Cate Blanchett never fails to make a point on repurposing and she’s done it again with her all black ensemble. While the figure-hugging leather dress was a custom piece by Giorgio Armani, the repurposed black lace underneath is actually a lace from another dress she wore back in 2014 and 2018.
Elizabeth Debicki in Dior
Crown actress Elizabeth Debicki was nominated for her role as Diana, and she embodied the same regal spirit of the late princess with her Dior dress from their SS23 collection. The actress opted for a velvet green piece that had subtle drapings by the neckline and right hip, making the material elegantly shine against the light.
