The ’70s fever was alive and well at The Opulence Ball, where disco dreams came alive with every guest bringing their own spin on the decade’s beauty
This year’s Opulence Ball was a flashback to the age of disco fever. Themed The Velvet Underground, Mond Gutierrez and Ashleigh Rye’s annual Halloween ball had guests channeling the full ‘70s spectrum, decked out in their glitziest to match the drama and decadence of the decade. Beauty also took cues from the past, with each look larger-than-life than the last. There were nods to Cher, Diana Ross, and other ‘70s glamazons, while others even took their looks for a wild spin into the future and the gory. But one thing’s for sure—beauty was a headliner in each look. From hair to makeup and everything in between, here’s a roundup of the evening’s best.

Janella Salvador
Janella Salvador looked like she had a hit job at 8 and a disco party at 9. With red splatters and beads trailing across her face, an embellished lip drenched in red, and long crimson curls, her look was inspired by the song “Murder on the Dancefloor” by Sophie Ellis-Bexto. As her makeup artist Carissa Cielo Medved put it, she was a “disco diva by day, dancefloor assassin by night,” and saying she pulled it off is putting it lightly.
R’Bonney Gabriel
R’Bonney went straight from the high seas to the dancefloor with her mermaid-slash-pirate-inspired get-up. She sported a high-winged liner and black feathered lashes that perfectly framed her eyes. Her lids were a different story, washed with pale blues, yellows, and oranges that resembled a soft sunset. All eyes were on her eyes that evening.
Renz Pangilinan
What’s a ‘70s party without Cher? Renz Pangilinan channeled the disco queen but added his own little twist—a whole lot of glitter. His sculpted bed of hair and facial hair shone brighter than a disco ball, and his eye look was a kaleidoscope of colors that echoed the night’s fun. Thanks to makeup artist Jaja Pangilinan, his glam almost housed the entire party.
Maymay Entrata
Maymay Entrata’s ensemble was inspired by Bianca Jagger’s legendary dove-holding moment at the iconic New York nightclub Studio 54. But up top, she kept it angelic. She had pale blue eyes, soft lashes, a nude lip, and a clean and flawless base—just the right touch of sweetness on a hot disco day.
Boom Sason
Channeling disco royalty, Boom Sason waltzed into the venue as Diana Ross. She was a diva from head to toe, but it was the big curls that did the talking. Not to mention her glam, consisting of a warm brown lip, glittery purple eyeshadow, defined brows, and ultra-snatched cheekbones that made her look a whole performance.
Aya Fernandez
Guests proved that the disco ball isn’t the only one that shines, and Aya Fernandez was certainly one of them. She sported a silver sequined headscarf to match her two-piece get-up. Yet what truly garnered a double take was her bold choice of eyeshadow—an iridescent light green. Keeping her lips nude and the rest of her base clean, Aya made sure that all eyes were on the shimmer.
Gabs Gibbs
At this point, Gabs Gibbs and disco are practically synonymous. Above, it was a half-bang moment, but her makeup look was an icon in itself. Shades of metallic blues surrounded her eyes, framed perfectly by a huge wing and thick, wispy eyelashes. Her lips were a glossy red-orange. Wearing this much color takes confidence, but it’s just another day for Gabs.
Elisse Joson
It’s not a disco without a drama, and Elisse brought it in full force. Her bedazzled, feathered fit was one thing, but her makeup and hair another. Elisse’s lashes fluttered like a dream, with graphic liner sweeping from wing to crease and crystals glinting around them. Her hair was crimped and pulled into a half updo that screamed the ‘70s.
Kylie Verzosa
Kylie was a sight in sequins and she had the glam to go with it. Her eyes sparkled with a bright silver wash, dotted with tiny studs that shimmered like mirror balls under the lights. Though her fit was tiny, her hair made up for it with all the waves. She went for a “‘70s disco queen icon” as she penned on Instagram, which couldn’t have been more fitting.
Janeena Chan
Janeena went all in on the ‘70s flower power. She played up her eye look with the signature ultra-long and spidery lashes of the era, defining both her top and lower lashes for the full doe-eyed effect. She kept a gold shimmery wing on her lids that tied in perfectly with her fully sequined attire. Janeena’s look could’ve been plucked straight from a festival scene.
The ‘70s were truly one for the books, a time forever etched in fashion and beauty history. Guests at this year’s Opulence Ball captured every bit of that glamour, leaving us curious about what next year’s theme will bring to the beauty playbook.
