Nadine and James closed the shows of RAFA WORLDWIDE and ANTONINA, respectively, at BYS Fashion Week
Since time immemorial, fashion shows have served as a reunion for creatives. Celebrities, actors and musicians among them, are invited to take part of the sartorial affair as guests and even as runway models. And with fashion tying their paths closer again, actor-musicians Nadine Lustre and James Reid both made their marks at the first day of the BYS Fashion Week 2023.
James 2.0
Concluding ANTONINA’s rain and regret-themed collection, the Careless co-founder strutted the runway in mesh and leather pieces. The leather outerwear that James wore was a long button-down almost resembling a trench coat. It was fitting to the monsoon-inspired collection, but also a more mature iteration of Reid’s trademark fashion article from the past. For a time, he also had an affinity for donning a leather jacket à la James Dean.

Another statement piece from his outfit was the bottom of choice topping the trousers. The skirt-or-culottes illusion adds to the curious element for Nina Amoncio’s BYS Fashion Week collection this year.
Nadine core
From one fashion week to another, the actress is unstoppable when it comes to style. Wrapping up RAFA WORLDWIDE’s Hyperballad collection, Nadine donned a cherry dress made with red beads and recycled magazine pages. Raf Villas’ creation is all the more underscored with the open-sided waist cut and the fringed hemline. The unified flamboyance with subtle hints of delicate details is an autobiographical homage to the queer designer’s upbringing in Angono, Rizal.
If there is anyone who could carry the dress with confidence and understanding, it would definitely be the six-time Best Actress awardee. Apart from gracing numerous magazine spreads throughout her career, Nadine is also an advocate for self-expression in the midst of the noise coming from societal norms. She, indeed, was not also living the statement of Villas’ collection for the BYS Fashion Week 2023, but also wearing it.
