As fans like to call it, Nadine’s “Karmadine” works in mysterious ways! This time, it came in not just one, but two awards last night

Being the face of a modern Filipina has become part of Nadine Lustre’s showbiz legacy, though it came with a conscious yet natural will. With such a so-called “role” today and other responsibilities on her plate, the actress continued to serve looks and talent at the 2023 FAMAS awards by bagging two awards last night—Best Actress in a Lead Role and Female Face of the Night.

Claiming the crown

Lustre was hailed for her performance as Kichi in the thriller film Greed directed by Yam Laranas. Actors Diego Loyzaga and Epy Quizon also topbilled the movie alongside her.

Nadine won her first FAMAS award in 2019 for her portrayal as Joanne in Antoinette Jadaone’s drama-romance film Never Not Love You, and it was her second nomination coming from her first one in 2016 for Para Sa Hopeless Romantic, playing the role of Becca. The actress was also nominated in 2020 for her character Maya in Irene Villamor’s Ulan, a magic-realism-slash-romance movie.

Wearing the win

In an exclusive correspondence with MEGA Entertainment, designer Rajo Laurel talked about the fringed “swing” terno the actress donned for the occasion. “It actually swings and sways as you walk,” he explained. “We used a nude, beige color that was just perfect with Nadine’s golden, bronzed morena skin.” The silk threads draping the bodice was a creative interpretation of how Laurel envisioned a modern Filipina.

According to stylist Lyn Alumno on Instagram, they pulled off the look in less than 24 hours. She also shared a photo of superstar Lady Gaga who rocked a similar “donning the mane” outfit at the 2009 Much Music Awards with her blond hair, dress, and bag.

Meanwhile, makeup artist Jelly Eugenio and hair stylist Paul Nebres went clean and classic with their makeup and mane choice, respectively. The naked latte makeup and sleek side-parted bun completed Nadine’s FAMAS winner look last night.
