New Found Purpose: How Marie Lozano’s Outlook on Beauty Changed

Beyond career and life milestones, the broadcast journalist found beauty in age—and she couldn’t stop sharing it

There are many factors that contribute to beauty. At the same time, there are many ways that people can define what they find beautiful. As we age, we learn to create our own definition of what it truly means. From embracing the changes that come with aging to creating routines to nurture your mind and body, and fueling your passions in life, beauty is more than an image and something deeper and more meaningful.

The same can be said about veteran journalist Marie Lozano who, at 44 years old, has shed off the idea that she is defined by how she looks and her age, especially in a world where all eyes are on her on and off-screen.

On what truly matters

For most of Marie Lozano’s 20s and 30s, life revolved around covering celebrities, tourist destinations, and reporting on a multitude of lifestyle topics for news segments and TV shows. The hustle and bustle of working in the newsroom and traveling for work assignments and getting recognition for it was a surefire sign of a woman who is in control of the trajectory of her career.

Come March 2020 with lockdown orders in place, the lull and sudden stillness in the journalist’s life was a break she unknowingly needed. While the lifestyle host empathizes with the people affected by the onslaught of the pandemic, staying at home has made her reflect on her perpetual on-the-go attitude and what matters most in her life.

“At first, you’re shocked. You don’t know how to position yourself and what to do. But, you know, when you just start to accept the situation, then you start feeling relaxed. I was able to take a break and ease up. The thing that I think I didn’t need happened,” she shares.

With a renewed sense of self, a new direction in her thriving career as the new managing editor of Cityscape, and venturing into hard-hitting subjects by joining her now-fiancé Aaron Gekoski in his documentary assignments, Marie soon realized what should be more apparent in her life—purpose over image.

The Cityscapes host reframed her mindset about beauty and aging by letting go of things that don’t matter

“You know, that only happens with maturity when the superficial things don’t matter anymore. You start letting go of a lot of things. Everything material didn’t matter. It was like the core things, which are your family and your health. That’s maturity for me.” She adds, “I wasn’t afraid of aging but the thought of not making use of my time for what matters to me,” says Marie.

“In the sense of feeling that I matured or I aged, this was a time that I was able to take care of myself. It was the opposite of feeling like I was aging. I aged faster when I was stressed out. I learned a lot from the experience that my priorities evolved.”

Redefining beauty

Going back to the basics and strengthening her family with her 14-year-old son also paved the way for Marie to refine her daily routine. As someone who used to be proud of not getting enough sleep, especially in her 20s, she realized the value of being well-rested that it eventually became the foundation of her every day. “I now have four pillars of health which are sleep, meditation, physical activity, and food. Every single aspect of that, I put in my day. It all works hand in hand. You feel good, you look good.”

The lifestyle journalist adds, “I learned so much about taking care of myself. I researched and took all these things that could help me. I also started taking supplements and good food.” Once Marie found a steady groove in her new and improved regimen, she also added Myra Ultimate as part of her daily skincare practice. The soft gel capsules formulated with Triple Skin Nutrients of Vitamin E help in reducing free radicals in the body, reduce fine lines, and dark spots. It also contains astaxanthin, an antioxidant found in algae, which has 6,000 times more antioxidant power than Vitamin C to give your skin a youthful and radiant glow.

Marie also admits that once she saw noticeable changes to her skin, she has been consistent with drinking the skin supplement at least once a day. She shares, “It has also kept my skin looking and feeling hydrated. It’s such a simple thing to do in my day but it has made a big difference.” It’s not just her, however, who has noticed this youthful aura that she has displayed since she added Myra Ultimate to her routine. Friends, family, and even her son, Nikos, have remarked about how glowing she has looked as each day passes.

“I’m not too obsessed about stopping aging. I now believe it’s not a bad thing. As long as you live your life, push yourself to do better, exude confidence, and contribute to make humanity better, I think that makes you even more beautiful.”

Now, as a woman who has broken free from traditional views on aging, Marie feels confident that solutions like Myra Ultimate can better take care of her skin by giving it the nutrients it needs and by promoting the production of collagen to maintain a firm skin. “It just makes you feel at ease that there are products out there that can help. It doesn’t stop aging. It will never stop but it makes you age gracefully. It just makes you enjoy aging more.”
