With BGYO’s talent and charm, it is no surprise that they are taking the world by storm—the Grammys included
At a time when Asian artists are solidifying their presence all over the world, our own Filipino performers are claiming their well-deserved space as well. In a recent article published by one of the most acclaimed music awards in the world, the Grammys, our very own quintet BGYO takes its spot as the Philippines’ Asian Pop sound to watch out for.

Joining the roster of other Asian artists such as Korea’s Baek Yerin, China’s Lexie Liu, and Thailand’s Phum Viphurit, BGYO was mentioned as a group that redefines the boyband image in our country. The evolution of group performers in the Philippines has gone from rock or vocal bands to dance troupes, both of which are now done by groups like BGYO. The five-member “Aces of P-Pop,” who debuted under Star Hunt Academy in 2021, is composed of Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate.
Just two years into their career, BGYO has already appeared in Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart, got featured in MTV Asia, and even performed several of their tracks in New York City. Last weekend, the group also had their live album showcase for their fans called ACES.
The group’s name, which stands for “Becoming the change, Going further, You and I, Originally Filipino,” is truly a reflection of what their group offers to their supporters and listeners. Incorporating beat variations of all kinds, as well as their vocal harmonization and rap flow, the quintet’s sound delivers a contemporary catch with a familiar flavor to Filipinos. Coupled with their powerful choreographies plus their professionalism, BGYO is truly a world class act.
Along with their two albums, BGYO’s songs have also been featured in Filipino series such as Darna, He’s Into Her, and Bola-Bola.
