With the fourth season of Just In commencing this year, host Paolo Contis had a one on one with actor Alden Richards for their long overdue catch up.

Working in the acting industry is not a walk in the park, and celebrities can attest to that. There is a certain form of understanding between the people working whether behind and or in front of the camera. With their longstanding careers, actors Paolo Contis and Alden Richards definitely have gone through some similar challenges in the limelight.

Starting the new year with a bang, no other than matinee idol Alden Richards graced the show.

In the first of the two-part episode, Alden talked about his past and present experiences in the industry with his previous co-star. Contis and Richards both starred in the 2012 fantasy-romance series My Beloved

Pandemic shift

During the interview, the two exchanged their takes on the changes (career-wise, Contis clarified with a teasing laugh) they noticed with the pandemic’s new normal system. Pointing out safety precautions and efficiency in production brought by the lock-in tapings, Alden said, “Yung pagiging kampante, siguro ‘yun ‘yong dapat nating bawasan.”

Trying to see this new experience in a new light, Richards also mentioned that “bubble” taping measures allowed him to focus on just one project at a time. Prior to the pandemic, the actor explained that he would be doing a soap, an endorsement, and another film simultaneously.

Family first

The actor also opened up about his journey in the industry, starting with his participation in the fifth batch of Starstruck 5. He initially planned on being a pilot but had to put his dream on hold to help his family. At an early age, Alden understood the reality of life and the importance of money.

He explained, “Hindi laging nawala yung problema sa pera. May gusto ka, pera. Gusto mong gawin ‘to, pera. Growing up, nastuck ‘yun sa’kin.”

The actor also shared the advice that he held onto at the start of his career.
