Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli, firmly rooted in the French fashion tapestry for decades, possesses an artful knack for extracting inspiration from his Roman heritage. He weaves Italian sensuality intermingled with Parisian chic throughout his designs. In his most recent collection, he embarks on a sartorial Grand Tour, a historical and cultural expedition of garments that mirrors introspection, self-elevation, and an unabashed reverence for the exquisite layers of cultural history.

In Valli’s collection, an atmosphere of refreshing light permeated, akin to a spring breeze dancing through a sunlit garden. Decorative excess took a back seat as embroideries, handled with a virtuoso’s touch, lent an enigmatic allure. The strategic use of white macramé lace exudes breezy vibrancy that echoes throughout. Yet, it was the long, beguiling dresses, Valli’s undisputed forte, that stole the spotlight. Draped in an array of styles, their cascading ruffles and fluid silhouettes composed a poetic homage to Valli’s unmistakable modern aesthetic—as light as a feather and as contemporary as a whisper of tomorrow.

Saint Laurent

Noise is not so nice for Anthony Vaccarello, who decidedly took things back to the way they were: simple but profound, essential not trendy, needed yet wanted. The collection was a radical departure, akin to a sleek aviator gliding through the skies, emphasizing the importance of an essential wardrobe. This collection was an homage to aviators and adventurers who boldly charted unexplored territory. Drawing inspiration from Amelia Earhart, who defied gravity and societal norms, Vaccarello breathed fresh air into Saint Laurent, akin to the refreshing breeze above the clouds. Her influence was palpable, with aviation themes weaving through the collection like contrails in the sky, evident in aviator sunglasses and head caps that echoed cockpit aesthetics.

The evolution of the collection whisked us away on a stylish flight. Utility-style jumpsuits with sharp lines and cinched waists, mirroring the precision of pre-flight checklists, marked the starting point of our expedition. As loyal co-pilots awaiting their moment to take command of the cockpit, a transformation that spoke volumes took place, revealing the nature to take flight. Untucked shirting, casually billowing like windsocks on a breezy tarmac, added an element of nonchalant charm. Purified cargo pants, streamlined and functional, evoked the spirit of practicality and preparedness synonymous with the aviator ethos. Gossamer gowns materialized with ethereal grace, evoking the weightless ascent of a soaring aircraft. Silk slip dresses allowed a gentle breeze to caress the skin, reminiscent of the gentle draft in an open cockpit.  Quiet luxury may be quiet, but this makes all the noise better.

Loewe

Jonathan Anderson is celebrated for his affinity for randomness, a skill that allows him to toss a few perplexing wrenches into the gears of conventional logic. He revels in conducting playful experiments, crafting beguiling illusions, and charting oblique courses through the intricate maze of our modern mental terrain. It’s randomness that’s built on innovation, something that is essential for fashion to evolve. Polly Pocket, anyone?

Loewe’s collection unfolds an imbalance of tradition and modernity, subtle but weird. Craftsmanship is revitalized with a contemporary flair, and fabrics and textures tell stories of both timelessness and innovation. Classic and futuristic elements coexist in a myriad of styles, offering a fresh perspective on wearable art. Each piece stands as a testament to Anderson’s vision, a collection that speaks to those who appreciate the staple, the chic, and the unconventional as if dressing the global citizen who finds herself racially ambiguous. It is indeed his landscape of randomness.

Rabanne

Wonder Woman takes flight in the new collection as creative director Julien Dossena transported the brand, which recently changed its name from Paco Rabanne to just Rabanne, to a realm of classical goddesses for spring. The mystical is influential in the designer’s work. In this opulent universe, gold, silver, and maximal textures reigned supreme—and it’s loud. Dossena’s fashion language doesn’t whisper; it roars. The goddess is a maximalist.

While the collection preserved its distinct fringed elegance, characterized by handkerchief-like details and petite tunics, Dossena’s inventive spirit shone brilliantly through his meticulous handling of non-mesh fabrics. A mesmerizing black dress, reminiscent of a sari but with a seemingly endless loop, bewitched onlookers with its enigmatic allure. The collection’s craftsmanship witnessed an interplay of contrasting elements—the tactile intensity of shaggy wool fringing stood in stark contrast to the ethereal, frost-kissed surface adorned with sequins, adorning a futuristic pajama suit that echoed haute couture finesse. Wonder Woman doesn’t need saving here.

Chanel

Virginie Viard’s artistry acted as our passport to a French getaway—a leisurely saunter through the sun-drenched landscapes of a Chanel wardrobe, where each ensemble whispered tales inspired by the Villa Noailles in the picturesque South of France. Her interpretation of Chanel effortlessly pirouetted past the confines of thematic restrictions, gracefully entwining itself with the unfiltered narratives of youthful femininity. In this reverie, she weaves stories that resonate with the genuine experiences of women: individual yet balanced.

From inception to end, this collection embodied unforced elegance. It unveiled a tapestry of styles, where flat sandals strolled beside relaxed, nonchalant tweed drapes, swimsuits danced in harmony with caped beachside ensembles, and a procession of meticulously tailored denim and relaxed yet refined loungewear took the spotlight. Viard’s approach to jewelry embodied a refined subtlety, akin to the contemporary women’s appreciation for cherished personal keepsakes. At the core of Chanel’s identity, Gabrielle Chanel’s age-old tradition of seamlessly melding affordable costume jewelry with high-end masterpieces continued to resonate.
