BEAUTY TALKS
WHERE DO YOU GET INSPIRATION FOR THE LOOKS YOU CREATE?
My inspiration for beauty looks comes from many sources, such as nature, art, fashion, culture, and personal experiences. I also draw inspiration from current trends, runway shows, and social media platforms. Sometimes, I incorporate historical and cultural inspiration in current trends to give my creations an elevated touch.
WHY IS APPLYING MAKEUP CONSIDERED AN ART FORM?
Applying makeup is considered an art form because it involves the use of color, texture, and form to enhance or transform a person’s appearance. In addition to the technical skills required, makeup artistry also involves an understanding of color theory, facial anatomy, and the principles of design. Like other forms of art, it requires creativity, imagination, and a keen eye for detail. Overall, makeup application can be seen as a form of visual art that allows for self- expression and the creation of beauty.
AMONG THE LOOKS THAT YOU’VE DONE IN THE PAST, WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE?
I always love doing graphic liners and negative spaces. Those looks never go out of style.
DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM MAKEUP LOOK.
I have always dreamed about doing a sea siren-inspired makeup look, and having an underwater shoot with my muse, Pauline Amelinckx. She is perfect for it because she is a trained free diver. I’m confident she will give life to my creation.
NAME YOUR TOP THREE MAKEUP PRODUCTS.
First is Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter—it gives perfect glowing and healthy skin. Second, Make Up For Ever’s Matte Velvet Powder Foundation, which is a smudge-proof and sweatproof powder foundation that’s perfect for our country’s hot and humid weather. Lastly, Browit by Nongchat, which is a waterproof brow painter and pen liner in one.
WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER ONE TIP FOR ASPIRING MAKEUP ARTISTS?
My number one tip for aspiring makeup artists who are trying to break into the industry is to build a strong portfolio of their work and to network as much as possible.
