The French fashion house names Pharrell Williams as the newest Creative Designer for their menswear line
American musician, producer, and streetwear designer Pharrell Williams is set to serve as the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line.
The singer first collaborated with Louis Vuitton alongside Nigo for the “Millionaire” sunglass collection in 2004. In 2008, he worked with the French luxury brand once again for a jewelry collaboration titled “Blason.” In a statement, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari said that they are glad to welcome Williams back home. He added, “His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton toward a new and very exciting chapter.”
As the brand’s new head of menswear, Williams will be producing two collections a year, and his first will be revealed at the Men’s Fashion Week in Paris this June.
Williams will be stepping into the role that has been vacant since Virgil Abloh’s untimely passing in November 2021. Just like Abloh, Williams has had a significant influence in moving streetwear to the forefront of fashion. He is now the second Black American to ever hold a director position at Louis Vuitton, with Abloh being the first.
