On its opening night, we saw Kylie Verzosa make her way up the stairs for the screening of Jeanne du Barry. Now for its second, another Filipina made her presence known by wearing a head-turning statement piece. This woman is none other than Miss Universe 2015 herself, Pia Wurtzbach.
Another gown made by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner was worn by the former beauty queen. The designer mentioned in his recent Instagram post that the red gown was one of the designs he had made for Pia, and was simply overjoyed by her choice. This makes us wonder what other looks the newlywed chose from.
But in this case, we’re putting the spotlight on the sequined red number she wore. The shade had a sultry deep red to it, which helped separate the hue of the carpet and her dress—making her look visible still. While the finish was kept sleek since it was sequined from head to toe, this gave way to the sculptural silhouette of her dress.
The construction of the gown featured various techniques, each one elevating her dress. The neckline had a sharp edge that went past her shoulder, black lining was added on her side from the armhole to the waist, and her hips were accentuated because of the draping on her waist, which formed another train.
Since her gown was quite the statement in itself, Pia made sure to go subtle with her choice of accessories and makeup look. Silver jewelries were seen on her ears, wrist, and ring, while her hair was done in a sleek bun to show off the natural makeup she had on.
