Prada Forwards Sustainability With a Fine Jewelry Line Made of 100% Recycled Gold

By

With the launch of Eternal Gold, Prada’s triangle takes on three sides—craftsmanship, sustainability, design.

Since time immemorial, gold has been a symbol of success—the guts and glory of one persevering soul. Getting the gold means one has exceeded a certain caliber or standard, and in today’s changing times, it takes more than just craftsmanship and skill to stay golden—you must carry a bigger message with you. Achievement without a greater cause is nothing but a self-serving approach to life.

The world today is in great need of a movement to change the way we live our lives. All facets and industries, including and especially in fashion, must learn to balance production and consumption that will not deplete the value of life.

A golden vision

In line with today’s more progressive movements, Prada now breathes sustainability into fine jewelry with Eternal Gold. The new line is made of 100% recycled gold, passing the “Chain of Custody” standards of the Responsible Jewelry Council.

Customers can also access the Aura Consortium Blockchain for the verification of their pieces, as well as the process of making the jewelry. Each step, from the mining to the polishing, is transparently recorded. With this, Prada takes a huge move for fashion houses towards consciousness accountability in their production process.

As a maison that values timeless relevance rather than passing hype, Prada presents its impact in offering what remains as classic today: snake bracelets, heart motifs, chain necklaces, and ribbon chokers.

Of course, the iconic Prada triangle is reiterated as clasp closures, earrings, and pendants. It is also transformed with softer sides for chain links and hearts, as well as a head for a snake bracelet.

These pieces will definitely scream that you are persistent, passionate, and present.

A golden representation

With the launch of Eternal Gold, three golden women don the collection to represent their contribution in their chosen fields: multi-hyphenates Amanda Gorman, Maya Hawke, and SOMI.

Marking her presence as the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. History, Amanda Gorman advocates for racial equality, social justice, and the environment. Her poem, “The Hill We Climb,” has received critical acclaim from several reputable award-giving bodies.

Maya Hawke is an actor and singer-songwriter who plays Robin Buckley on Stranger Things, and who has recently starred in the Netflix film Do Revenge. Aside from her exposure to acting, she has also taken on singing and has released two albums, Blush and Moss, in the years 2020 and 2022, respectively.

Last but not least, Somi Jeon, or more widely known as SOMI, is a Canadian-Dutch-Korean performer. From starting out as a member for the girl group I.O.I., she has blossomed into a young woman with very big dreams. This year, she released her debut studio album called XOXO.
