Moonbin has lived a life well-lived in making a lot of people happy by sharing his contagious smile and comforting presence to the world
Earlier today, Fantagio Group officially confirmed the shocking news of Moonbin’s passing. In their statement, they requested the public to refrain from spreading false information on his death, as well as to allow the bereaved family and friends of the 25-year old idol to grieve quietly and peacefully.
According to several Korean news platforms, entertainment shows and artist activities have postponed their broadcasts and schedules respectively to honor the ASTRO member. One of the groups who will cease their activities is Billie, of which Moonbin’s sister, Moon Sua, is a member.
Eternally cherished
Moonbin’s journey to stardom started in his childhood with appearances in the TVXQ music video “Balloons” and in the drama Boys Over Flowers. He joined Fantagio and trained in the company since he was in fifth grade.

In 2016, he debuted in the six-member boy group ASTRO, together with JinJin, MJ, Eunwoo, Sanha, and former member Rocky. Serving as ASTRO’s center and main dancer, Moonbin captured the hearts of their fans with his smooth moves and cheshire-like smile.
Marking the group’s first sub-unit, he and Sanha released their first EP In-Out. This was followed by another EP called Refuge in 2022, and Incense this year. The two artists visited the Philippines last March for their DIFFUSION Fan Con.
Besides his grace and charisma on stage, he is also known for his captivating vocals. Last October, he even covered Justin Bieber’s “Changes” on ASTRO’s YouTube channel.
Forever loved
Among those who look up to him is his sister, Moon Sua. In 2022, the two shared their sibling synergy on stage with their performance of “Candy In My Ears.”
Moonbin and Sua also made an appearance in the Korean reality show DNA Mate. Expressing her doubts as an idol, Moon Sua told her brother that he was her role model in the industry. “Just by you answering my call, I feel that there’s someone on my side,” she said in the episode.
Moonbin will always be remembered not only as a talented performer, but also as a passionate man who dedicated his life to making people happy. Arohas and people all over the world will never forget his smile, energy, and kindness.
