Creating a TV series that blurs the line between fantasy and reality can be a tricky task for writers. Balancing these two elements requires a delicate approach to keep the audience invested while also maintaining a sense of realism, allowing both the viewers and actors to connect with the storyline. Thus, any show that walks this fine line well can be incredibly impactful, resonating with audiences on a deeper level and can leave a lasting impression.

With the release of Ruru Madrid and Bianca Umali’s The Write One in Viu, striking this right balance looks possible. From its trailer to the premiere of its first two episodes, we can immediately see the show’s mix of fictional storytelling and real-life situations.

The unique storyline started from the atypical romantic yet comedic meeting of the two lead actors. Ruru Madrid portrays Liam, a man who has long been amazed by the presence of Bianca Umali’s character named Joyce. They were former classmates and have crossed paths after college. The first episode’s happenings were literally on fast forward as the two became husband and wife, but the conflicts started right after their happily ever after.

Due to the unforeseeable turn of events in their family, Liam and Joyce’s relationship became strained, and this is when he stumbled upon the antique typewriter that apparently has the power to rewrite the story of his life. With each rewrite, Liam is transported to an alternate reality where he is a successful heir of a well-known family name and in a passionate relationship with Via, who is portrayed by Mikee Quintos. Meanwhile, Joyce is living her dream as the most sought-after actress. She is also being pursued by Paul Salas’ character named Hans, a lawyer who assures her with emotional and financial stability.

The story then revolves around how Liam will navigate his new reality. He will discover the limits of his newfound power and the consequences of every choice he makes. Both characters will be put in a race against time while figuring out how to confront their deepest fears and regrets, and rewrite their destiny before it’s too late.

It is no doubt that the much-anticipated events of the story will soon answer the questions about one’s fate and destiny. As the series is relatable for many, especially when talking about having the chance to rewrite our own lives, Ruru and Bianca knew right away that this is a project they could not resist doing. It’s clear that the show is carefully crafted, paying attention to every detail to maintain a portrayal of love that is out of the ordinary.
