Sparkle GMA Artist Ruru Madrid recently brought excitement among his friends and followers when he took to Instagram to show off his fresh new haircut. The photo he shared revealed his bold new look, from having long, layered hair to having a short, sleek style. The actor has also dropped hints that he is dressing for his next role.
In this MEGA Man exclusive, Mycke Arcano, Ruru’s longtime hairstylist, explained the concept behind this new look and offered valuable tips on how other gentlemen can also achieve it.

Ruru’s request
Prior to cutting Ruru’s hair, Mycke shared that the actor personally asked him to do it and requested that he document the entire process. The hairstylist mentioned that he never anticipated this moment to arrive so soon. In a surprising revelation, Mycke admitted that he had yet to work his magic on a lengthy mane and turn it into a short hairstyle. Grateful for the trust bestowed upon him by Ruru, he proceeded with the task at hand. With just a few days notice from the actor, he knew he needed some reliable backup. Mycke praised the efforts of Ruru’s stylist, David Milan, and makeup artist, Thazzia Falek, saying that they made their work simpler and gave them a more enjoyable experience overall. “It was a good three days of mental pressure, to be honest. But I really gave it my all, because Ruru will be my very first long-to-short haircut.”
The haircuts
Mycke’s first chop offered the actor an evident edge—a deconstructed, contemporary shaggy style inspired by Japanese animation. After that, Ruru requested the final trim. Inspired by one of Jungkook of BTS’s red carpet appearances, this haircut is a brushed-up two-block cut with a low fade on the sides—a style choice that unquestionably elevated the actor’s charisma and sophistication.
Achieving the looks
The hairstylist said that in order to successfully imitate the shag, the haircut must be purposefully designed to be piecey and textured. A texture paste, matte molding gum, or rubber can help you achieve that carefree bedhead style. But if you’re a man who likes to keep things sleek and sophisticated, you should give your hair a good blow-dry to add volume and lift. Then, to complete your suave look, use a water-based pomade.
Maintaining the mane
According to Mycke, the key to maintaining these hairstyles is to schedule a trim or consultation with your hairstylist every two weeks. This will ensure that your desired look stays fresh and polished. Aside from that, you can also count on your trusted hair products to keep your locks looking healthy and vibrant.
