At yesterday’s press conference, the director opened up about the experience of collaborating with Chris Hemsworth once again
Renowned Hollywood stunt coordinator and director Sam Hargrave, along with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, recently graced the Philippines with their presence, attracting the attention of media representatives from various parts of Asia and the Pacific. The dynamic duo attended a press conference to promote their highly anticipated movie, Extraction 2. At the event, the director and lead actor made sure to connect with their fans, discussing the heart-pumping action sequences and exclusive behind-the-scenes stories that provide a glimpse into the thrills that await viewers. When asked about their collaboration, Sam expressed his thoughts on working with Chris once again.

Their thrilling collaboration
Chris shared his happiness and appreciation for the warm welcome and expressed his excitement for being present, as well as his sense of pride for his latest cinematic creation. Sam, with equal enthusiasm, proudly teased that the movie will surpass the previous one in terms of scale and excitement.
The lead actor said that they began talking about the new movie while they were making the first one. They both understood that even though the action was groundbreaking, they hadn’t gone into the emotional side as much as they wanted to. “We had action that people had not seen before, but we had not really dove into the emotional side of things as much as we could. This is an opportunity to ramp up the action again, and no one better on the planet that shoots action like Sam, but then we have this character development and this backstory that we weren’t able to explore.” Chris shared.
The duo also discussed the film’s highlights, including an incredible long shot that lasts for 21 minutes and seven seconds. Sam described some of the difficulties he had to overcome as a director, such as having to land a helicopter on a moving train. But he sees it as necessary work toward a final product they can be pleased with. “We look at each other and we say, ‘How can we push each other to do something we will be proud of 10 years from now and try to make it something memorable for the fans?’” Sam mentioned.

“Filmmaking is one of the most collaborative art forms out there. When you get the opportunity to work with someone like Chris, who is not only extremely talented in his lane, which is acting and action, but as a filmmaker, he’s so collaborative and knowledgeable about storytelling, writing, and where to put the camera, It makes my job a lot easier when you have somebody like him inspiring you and helping lead the way,” Sam said.
He also made the audience laugh by joking about how working with Chris helped him stay fit. He said that carrying cameras around all the time felt like exercise because they were so heavy. Kidding aside, the director admitted that filming Extraction 2 was really tough because of the extensive running required, suggesting that the movie will be full of thrilling action.
