Still owning the title “Popstar Royalty” today, the singer-producer actually translated her moniker through style in her latest music video for “My Mind.” Here’s how she did it with a twist on two of today’s trends.
The regal cut
From the teaser photos to the actual music video, Sarah got the attention of Popsters with her straight, light pink hair with some blunt, shorter locks right landing on her cheeks. Meet the Hime cut, the trending hairstyle in 2021 with an ancient origin.
While this has been associated with TWICE’s Momo during the girl group’s Fancy era, as well as with Kakegurui’s Yumeko Jabami, did you know that its history traces back to Japan’s Heian period? According to hairstylist Philip Wolff, noble women at that time would welcome their coming of age by cutting their hair to ears’ length. Adding another twist to the said hairstyle, Sarah donned hers with an asymmetrical front cut.
Crown eye candy
Today, crowns are not only for heads but for the eyes, too. The G Productions co-founder elevated her outfits in the music video with a number of accessories, including the Tiara 02 specs from Gentle Monster’s collaboration with D’heygere.
Studs surrounded the goggle-shaped rims, while the temples had their own jewelry accents as well. A crown, in its true essence, is not just a symbol of nobility, but also of service and duty.
