Good news, Kapamilyas!
We are in for new treats cooking under the ABS-CBN International Production and Co-Production. As the network continues to elevate the material in terms of production and narrative, gone are the days of typical storylines and usual genres.
The network has partnered up with different producers to mix the Kapamilya flavor with an international twist. And with that, here are the upcoming shows starring some of the most talented artists of ABS-CBN:
Concepción starring Sharon Cuneta
In February of this year, Deadline releases an article on the movie, giving us only a glimpse of what it will be about. According to the synopsis, the series is a crime family drama featuring the Asian-American history.
An alternate retelling of the years 1992 to 2020, we can expect a more progressive discussion of sensitive topics in the country such as gambling, drugs, and family affairs courtesy of creator Craig Obligación Wilson.
Filipino-American actor Reggie Lee, Yellow Rose and Lingua Franca co-producer Jeremiah Abraham, and Nathan McCoy will produce the said project.
As of yesterday, Sharon Cuneta has hinted her participation in the project through her Instagram posts.
Cattleya Killer starring Arjo Atayde
Another crime-centered narrative, Cattleya Killer is a thriller starring the newly-engaged Arjo Atayde. Atayde is one of the most striking antagonists in Ang Probinsyano.
It is a modern adaptation of the 1996 movie Sa Aking Mga Kamay starring Aga Muhlach and Christopher De Leon. The latter is also a cast member of the 2022 series.
Along with Atayde and De Leon, these actors also join the cast: Jake Cuenca, Zsazsa Padilla, Ricky Davao, Nonie Buencamino, Jane Oineza, Ria Atayde, Ketchup Eusebio, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Jojit Lorenzo, and Frances Makil.
Cattleya Killer is directed by Dan Villegas, written by Dodo Dayao, and produced by Ruel S. Bayani.
Sellblock starring Jericho Rosales
Another action-crime series on the works, Sellblock tackles an in-prison drug operation in the Philippines. Rosales, the “Asian Drama King”, is said to top the billing of this show and will also be joined by Tirso Cruz III, Cherry Pie Picache, Ronnie Lazaro, Rosanna Roces, Mon Confiado and RK Bagatsing.
Joining ABS-CBN in overseeing the production is BlackOps Studios Asia. Story Arch Pictures and Agog Film Productions are also co-producers of the show.
