The suit accessory makes a comeback as seen in the latest runways

When it comes to trend reporting, our usual roundup consists of pieces such as outerwear, bottoms, and dresses finished in various lengths and materials. These are wardrobe essentials that you can easily incorporate into your daily ensembles so you can walk out with a fashion that is up to date.

And while these trends can be spotted instantly when you go shopping at your go-to store, we can’t forget the little details that elevate your overall look. An accessory that is slowly making its way down the runway and fashion scene in a rather slow manner is the necktie.

Over the years, the necktie went through various genres in the fashion world. We saw them during the 90s decorated in colorful hues and playful patterns against monochrome suits. Fast forward to the early 2000s where the accessory was thrown around the neck in a lazy fashion until they slowly became a must-have in the grunge look in the late 2010s.

It definitely took awhile for this add on to come back since the trend it is more popularly associated in menswear, so it’s refreshing to see it make its way down the runway in recent fashion shows.

The interpretation towards the necktie was done in various ways. Fashion houses like Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen incorporated the piece with its usual styling. Whether it’s an oversized coat or a laid back office look, a sleek black tie makes its home on the white-button down.

Valentino followed suit with its black tie theme iterated in a casual manner. The black tie was a favorite of the maison as they were seen on most of the pieces in the collection.

Meanwhile, fashion labels like Antonio Marras made it a point to go back to the playful days of the necktie. In one look, the accessory was finished in a white and brown gradient while the other was rather edgy with its black and red checkered pattern.

Seeing that major fashion houses are starting to include the necktie in their collections, we’ll probably see them streamline into the global fashion scene soon. A small prediction we’re projecting is the rise of squared out suit coordinates in womenswear in the casual scene accessorized with their choice of necktie. Confident and modern? It’s a combo worth seeing on the streets and beyond.
