It always comes with a surprise factor when celebrity brides unveil their wedding gowns and who the designer behind it is. Whatever it may be, they become the talk of the town.
From the wedding gown to the fashion designers they turned to, and all the little and grandest details, we are all for it. When fashion designers enter the bridal scene, one thing’s for sure—they will wow us with their romantic creations. But then there are those who you never thought would drape one. While these fashion designers aren’t necessarily akin to the fantasy of weddings, they surprisingly shift decorum and it works for their big day. From the 2019 brides, and those from few years back, here are some celebrities who opted for unexpected exclusivity when it comes to their wedding gowns.
Ralph Lauren
We’re almost close to not witnessing Ralph Lauren making a wedding gown, unless you are family, but recently relented for Priyanka Chopra, who tied the knot with Nick Jonas. Although the designer has previously designed wedding trousseau, but only for his nearest relatives—his daughter, daughter-in-law, and niece, Priyanka made it to the exclusive list after Ralph feeling an emotional involvement in their love story. Priyanka’s sequin-embellished strapless dress took 1826 hours of handwork by 15 skilled artisans.
Riccardo Tisci
For Kim Kardashian’s wedding, her rapper husband Kanye West stepped into the gown preparations and picked his close friend, Riccardo Tisci to design Givenchy haute couture for Kim K. Tisci’s monastic-inspired lace gown with a cut-out waist to highlight her hourglass figure.
Nicolas Ghesquière
In Sophia Turner and Joe Jonas’ second exchange of vows in the south of France, Sophie donned a custom Louis Vuitton wedding dress by LV’s artistic director of women’s collection Nicolas Ghesquière. The Louis Vuitton brand ambassador and Game of Thrones star wore a floral-embellished exquisite dress with lace sheer long sleeves.
Stella McCartney
Idyllic in her white silk crepe high neck gown by Stella McCartney, Meghan Markle proved how she’s a natural. Meghan’s reception gown resembles Princess Diana’s gown when she attended a reception at Spencer House in London. Here’s the best part, anybody can feel like a royalty with Stella McCartney’s bridal line that featured a gown inspired by the Duchess of Sussex’s reception gown.
Virgil Abloh
Going a little bit extra, Hailey Baldwin-Bieber carried with her a massive tent just to hide her wedding gown. After this took our attention, she then revealed in an Instagram post that she had Virgil Abloh for Off White design her wedding gown. Her off-shoulder, backless gown features a tulle train and with words, “TILL DEATH DO US PART” on the hem of the long veil.
Indeed, it’s a perfect collaboration for these fashion designers and celebrities. These wedding gown creations were beyond reproach as the fashion designers added a personal touch in their signature style for their celebrity clients.
