We cried and fell in love in all of Taylor Swift’s eras. But if there’s anything we genuinely laud about the legendary singer and songwriter is the distinct magic she has in storytelling. Through her eventful discography for more than a decade, we can’t deny that, at least once, we have felt connected to what she has written.

With the arrival of Swift’s 10th studio album Midnights and after being recognized for All Too Well: The Short Film at the 2022 MTV EMAs, the award-winning singer will make her feature directorial debut based on the original script she wrote for Searchlight Pictures.
Searchlight Pictures is the subsidiary of 20th Century Fox and the production studio behind Oscar-winning movies titled Nomadland, The Shape of Water, and Birdman.
Songwriter, singer, an honorary doctorate, and now adding to her many titles, Director Taylor Swift coming in 2023, will embark on a new path in her career. Other details, including the title, plot, and casting, are currently under wraps.
Before the feature film announcement, Taylor Swift shared a behind-the-scenes video of her in action while filming the All Too Well short film. The inside look at the process of making it showed Taylor instructing Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien with everything—from how Dylan should place Sadie’s hand back on the table, getting out of the car and fighting with one another, to kissing each other out of sheer passion—explaining how she wants to picture her own character in the scenes.
Given Taylor Swift’s hands-on experience in conceptualizing and directing some of her music videos, such as “Bejeweled” and “Anti-Hero,” and her decade’s worth of songwriting, she definitely has the creative vision to convey actors’ emotions while working behind the camera.
