Panels, keynote talks, competitions, and more comprised DIGICON’s 2024 in the pursuit of empowering the youth with their digital dreams
Content is king. Just about anyone can attract a following from one single TikTok, Instagram reel, or a photo collage that hits all the right notes. The room for digital potential is near limitless. Each new video, graphic, and creator now has the capacity to create something truly special amidst the thousands in tandem with it.
DigiCon recognizes that, and has decided to become a beacon of education and growth for all digital creatives out there in the country. Supported by the Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP), the premiere digital convention showcases technological innovations and fosters professional learning in all fields concerning digital creation. For this past year’s entry, DigiCon REVOLUTION celebrated creators who are thriving in the rapid pace of creativity and release inspired contemporary creations that redefine the frontier of the digital space.
All for the Creatives
Panels, resource talks, and networking were all the rage at the convention last October 15th to 16, 2024 at Newport City. Data analytics, E-commerce, brand building, Metaverse and A.I. —all massive talking points that attracted crowds and experts in the field alike to share both insightful stories and valuable lessons.
Tons of big names joined in on the convection’s conversations. David Beal, Head of Global Marketing for Jollibee, hosted his talk on his experiences with tending to the Philippine Bee’s global growth. Entitled Listening, Learning, Leading: Values-Driven Digital Transformation, it was a session of deep insights and learning experiences taken directly from the mind of an integral person in the gargantuan process of globalizing Jollibee.
From brand transformation to high-tech advancements, best-selling technology and science author Steven Johnson gave his firsthand thoughts and concepts on what it means to retain the human touch in ideas in an age of Artificial Intelligence. When ChatGPT and Dall-E are so easy to access now, talks like his pushed for always prioritizing the creative spark inherent to human beings. Today’s digital tools are a creative’s partners, and not their dictators.
All that, and so much more took place. Curiosity and a drive for learning wasn’t frowned upon here. For the sake of inspiring better ways to express creatively, this collective of grand talent spent DigiCon pushing everyone to be better than they were before in their content.
Competition breeds growth as well as joint learning. The Digital Young Creator’s Competition (DYC), held their live presentations of their submissions during DigiCon 2024. Copywriters, art directors, UX/UI designers, social media creators, and every creative in between all showcased their best and were all the better for it. Winners subsequently earned the chance to represent the Philippines in the international creatives competitions in South Korea and Thailand.
As DMAP DYC Chairperson Raymund Sison says, “Creativity and Technology are two of the most powerful forces in the world today, and they must be used in the service of humanity. This year’s theme is a call to our young talents to use creativity and technology to create in ways that matter to people, community, business, and the world. Here’s to creating with impact!”
For Today’s Digital Youth
Breaking out amongst all the noise as a creative? It’d be difficult to find a task more frustrating to deal with than that. Yet, it’s gatherings such as DigiCon that help people find their footing and confidence.
Content is king, but the creator is the person that grants that crown. The digital youth of today will always be open to learning in and out of their fields, for it’s the very thing that will help them achieve their digital dreams.
