In an exclusive interview with Jake Galvez, the makeup artist revealed all the sought-after details behind Belle Mariano’s ABS-CBN Ball 2023 glam
The aftermath of the ABS-CBN Ball only means that now is the perfect time to do a little rewind on all the memorable fashion and beauty moments seen on the red carpet. Of course, who could ever forget the parade of transformative cuts and statement lips? And while every star and honorable guest exhibited show-stopping entries, there were few who effortlessly commanded attention. Case in point: Belle Mariano’s understated elegance.

“The overall look is a soft glam makeup inspired from K-beauty,” Jake Galvez shared exclusively to MEGA. “Belle is very much involved in coming up with her red carpet look. She knows what she wants and also gives input with the look. But most of the time, she gives full 100% trust to her glam team.”
The story behind her glam
Belle Mariano is undeniably among the big stars who turned heads at the ABS-CBN Ball 2023. Styled by Adrianne Concepcion, she slipped into an embellished ball gown designed by Michael Leyva. As for the glam? It was a collaborative effort between Jake Galvez, RJ Dela Cruz, Adrianne Concepcion, and Belle herself.
“I presented a few makeup looks [and hairstyles] that work perfectly with Belle’s features,” Jake reminisced. “Luckily, we all agreed with the look that we have created. More so, we finalized [it all] during our pre-ball shoot, which was days before the actual ball.”
The beauty breakdown
As we continued our conversation, the makeup artist exclusively detailed the process behind the actress’ glam. “I started with skincare,” he began. “I made sure Belle’s skin was prepared properly so it could last the entire night.” As for the base, Jake revealed that her skin is absolutely foundation-free. “I only used concealer under the eyes and to cover a few blemishes.” He added, “Elsewhere, I opted for a soft peach-colored blush and subtle highlight for her cheeks.”
Of course, her look wouldn’t be complete without her signature eye makeup equation. “For her eyes, which was the focus of our look, I used a rose gold eyeshadow on the lids, topped with pink-colored sparkles. For her custom eyelashes, I used Luxe Beauty’s Lash Clusters Individual Eyelashes and defined it using Maybelline’s Sky High Mascara.” To complete the look, Jake swished on a combination of Maybelline’s Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor in Charmed and Mischievous.
On what it’s like working with Belle
It was only a year ago since Jake Galvez lauded the star as a young trendsetter. But what has changed since then? “Belle’s love for makeup has evolved so much,” he detailed. “Since she has been traveling a lot for work, she has to practice and improve on her self-makeup application. And I think she’s doing well. There are days when she doesn’t require my help anymore, which makes me so proud.”
He added, “I will forever love working with Belle. I will forever treasure her 100% trust in my work, my style, and my vision. My creative spirit is always inspired whenever she’s on my makeup chair.”
