Know the time and place
It’s a given that the treks usually happen in the mountains, so there’s a lot of factors you need to consider. Is the weather sunny? Opt for something breezy. What if the trail leads to a fall? Having a pair of sandals in your backpack might come in handy. All in all, make sure you do your research so you can properly prepare yourself for the hike.
Dress for protection
While breezy dressing is an option, you can also go for a pair of leggings, especially if there’s a possibility of coming across various insects along the trail. Another tip is to have arm protection sleeves for those who prefer to wear sports bras and sleeveless tops. But if you get cold easily, it’s ideal to bring a workout jacket with you to keep you warm. Lastly, if you’re going for a morning hike, having a water bottle tucked in your bag will definitely be your saving grace since the sun can get intense when it’s already high up.
The beginner’s store
Since you’re about to get into the intense act of hiking, you might want to hold off on splurging, and settle for pieces that are affordable. If you’re looking for a full gear, Decathlon has everything you need, like hiking bags, shoes, and leggings, and all are even priced at affordable rates. But if you’re set on investing a bit more, then Merrell and R.O.X. should definitely be in your radar.
Join the community
So how do you actually get into the outdoor activity? Unless you’ve convinced your friends to join you, a small local hiking community called Sunday Hike Club on Instagram was recently formed, and many Gen Zs have been signing up for their latest trips. Once you’ve decided on giving it a try, feel free to send them a message and ask how you can take part in the group.
