The Met Gala isn’t just a night for fashion designers, models, and influencers. Also in attendance were athletes from NBA stars to Olympic gold medalists. Notably, this year’s event was titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” and it was to pay homage to the late fashion designer. With that, listed below are the elite athletes that dressed to impress at the 2023 Met Gala.

Roger Federer
Dressed by Kim Jones, tennis legend Roger Federer looked impeccable in his black and white classic suit. The athlete also served as this year’s Co-Chair alongside Anna Wintour, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, and Andrew Bolton.

Serena Williams
Besides serving looks on the steps of the Met, tennis icon Serena Williams made a splash at the annual event with the announcement of her pregnancy, captioning her post with, “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.” It is also worth noting that the soon-to-be mom of two wore Gucci and Tiffany & Co. jewelry that evening.

Daniel Ricciardo
Another elite athlete that dazzled the crowd at the 2023 Met Gala is Daniel Ricciardo. The F1 racer who is currently Red Bull’s third driver surprised fans when he made an unexpected appearance at the event wearing a classic Thom Browne tuxedo.

Eileen Gu turned heads at the 2023 Met Gala with her Robert Wun Wine Stain Gown, a silk satin piece deliberately stained with a mix of dyes, beetroot juice, and red wine to mimic a spill. The Olympic gold medalist and model completed her look with an IWC Schaffhausen timepiece.

Dwayne Wade captured hearts at the 2023 Met Gala when he was filmed calling his daughter, Zaya, to show her the steps of the Met before walking on it. Accompanied by his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, the Hall of Famer awed fans with his head-to-toe black Prada ensemble.

NFL quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes II showed up to the Met looking dapper in a Boss suit. Beside him was his wife Brittany Mahomes, a personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur.

Brittney Yevette Griner
Also in attendance were WNBA player Brittney Yevette Griner of the Phoenix Mercury and her wife, Cherelle T. Griner. The couple was dressed in custom Calvin Klein looks, with Brittney wearing tailored co-ords and Cherelle wearing a strapless column dress. Notably, they had also worn Calvin Klein to the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner the night before.

NBA player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is another worthy invitee that made waves at the 2023 Met Gala. The 24-year-old point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder wore a tweed Thom Browne suit, proving that he well-understood the theme for the night.
